Advantages: tap water is cheap, safe, helps the environment because you're not adding all those plastic bottles to the need-to-recycle mess, fluoridated to strengthen tooth enamel
Disadvantage: taste ranges from ok to icky

By the way, more than half of the bottled brands are just tap water that's been filtered and maybe had minerals added!

Here I am bragging about Alaska again. Where I live, the tap water comes out so cold and is so good that I usually drink tap water. I buy bottles of water for convenience but I do drink tap water too. I don't know the advantages and disadvantages but I don't think bottled water is that much better. I know many places have fluoride in the water and I would try to avoid that. I have read that bottled water isn't any better and that we are dumb for paying for it, but I am afraid I can't remember much of what the article said. LOL

I hope you get some good answers; I will be checking back to read them.

I'd like to think that by drinking tap water I am getting my taste buds used to it, so that when I do have bottled water it's like a treat. Also I could be building up some immunity in my genes to evils that lurk in the water pipes. Plus the fluoride thing. And it's readily available. Disadvantages include possible weird taste and stuff that hasn't been filtered out.

advantages - not expensive, treated

disadvantages - if living in an old house, chances of getting lead poisoning from tap water are high due to the old piping.

i hate the taste of chlorine. in a major city its overwhelming but maybe in a smaller community they might not add as much. good thing is fluoride but you can probably get plenty of that from toothpaste and mouthwash.
