Yup I agree with you but my daughter turned 2 about 3 months ago and it got really bad. But my mom says that my brother who is 15 is still in his terrible twos!!

My girl has her moments, that is for sure, and she's just 20mths. I'm hoping it doesnt get worse than this, but I guess I wont know until we reach the 2's what will happen! She's already very independent and wants to show she can do everything by herself (even when she can't) and can throw a heck of a tantrum if she doesnt get her own way. Still gotta love her though, she's the cutest thing ever!!!

nah, i think they just happen to start testing you around this age. they're walking, maybe out of diapers if you're lucky, and doing lots of other things independently, so they want to see exactly how much they can do, (or get away with) but are still too young to know that they can't do it all. luckily, our 1st born didn't really have terrible twos. by the way, in speaking to someone else about this subject within earshot of your child, you might consider calling it "terrific twos" so they don't pick up on the negative aspect.

I think they are called the "Terrible Two's" because it seems to rear its ugly head every two years....lol. My oldest niece was an angel when she was 1, 3, 5, etc (Until she became a teen), but when she was 2, 4, 6 she was a complete terror.

Ha ha! Very true, that first taste of independence that comes with walking sure leads to a lot of temper tantrums with my youger son (he's 21 months now but walked at 11 mon.) In my opinion, 3 y.o. was much harder than 2 y.o. with my older son. I suppose it depends on the child but so far every stage has it's challenges.

I think it starts the moment the pregnancy test shows positive.
My daughter is 2 and her attitude is worse than when she was 1. I guess it's because she has now developed her own likes and dislikes but her vocabulary is still a work in progress so she can't communicate them to me clearly.

My daughter just turned two and it seems like the "terrible" switch turned right on! She wants to do what she wants to do..refuses do to what I tell her very rarely but more now than what she was younger. Oh when her Grandmother is around its on for her!!! Its show time!!!She just acts up like she never usually does...
PS. Shes not a bad kid at all compared to others her age...she's just a handful compared to what she used to be!!!

They don't have to be 2 to have "terrible" behavior. Any age where they're asserting their independence can be bad no matter how you handle it. Kids are different, so it's hard to know what to do. I think it starts the minute they can say "NO" and back it up.

i don't call it terrible 2's cause toddlers are very curious about the world around them and even tho they might get on your nerves they are just curious so i call them curious 2's
