Q: Is there anything existing in reality that would direct you to seek out the word of god in bible other than the bible itself?
===
Sure, there are other records that testify of the same things found in the records which the Bibles attempt to deliver to us, even though the translation of those Bibles is unauthorizied and incomplete. Nevertheless, the Book of Mormon also testifies of the fact the God had prophets on all sides of the world that were commanded by God to write what he revealed to them. The Bible purports to contain some of the records (not all, obviously) of the prophets and witnesses of God's dealings with the people in the Middle East. The Book of Mormon is a record of prophet's writings of God's dealings with the people in the ancient Americas. Both testify of each other, coincidentally.
And we believe there are yet more scriptures that will come forth from people of a different part of the world even still, that contain the testimonies of prophets of god and testify of jesus Christ and his teachings.
Of course, the Christians cannot claim these things, since their traditions and interpretations of their bibles do not allow them to accept anything but the bible, as if that really happens, though...

The idea that all revealed truth is to be found in "66 books" is not only not in Scripture, it is contradicted by Scripture (1 Corinthians 11:2, 2 Thessalonians 2:15, 2 Thessalonians 3:6, 1 Timothy 3:15, 2 Peter 1:20-21, 2 Peter 3:16). It is a concept unheard of in the Old Testament, where the authority of those who sat on the Chair of Moses (Matthew 23:2-3) existed. In addition to this, for 400 years, there was no defined canon of "Sacred Scripture" aside from the Old Testament; there was no "New Testament"; there was only Tradition and non-canonical books and letters.
Protestants claim the Bible is the only rule of faith, meaning that it contains all of the material one needs for theology and that this material is sufficiently clear that one does not need apostolic tradition or the Church’s magisterium (teaching authority) to help one understand it. In the Protestant view, the whole of Christian truth is found within the Bible’s pages. Anything extraneous to the Bible is simply non-authoritative, unnecessary, or wrong—and may well hinder one in coming to God.
Catholics, on the other hand, recognize that the Bible does not endorse this view and that, in fact, it is repudiated in Scripture. The true "rule of faith"—as expressed in the Bible itself—is Scripture plus apostolic tradition, as manifested in the living teaching authority of the Catholic Church, to which were entrusted the oral teachings of Jesus and the apostles, along with the authority to interpret Scripture correctly.

It is called "faith" - you either have it or you don't. Other than that, there is no magic here, it is pure and simple faith, and the holy spirit in your heart. If you do not have it, and must have proof, just look at yourself, and decide how you got here. I mean from nothing. Can something come from nothing. Even if I did not have the Bible, I would still believe in a hereafter and a God. Look to the heavens, the universe, and try to figure it all out, only God has the real answer, and we have not found it out yet. The more the scientific world try to figure one thing out, then another pops up and knocks it out. They go back to the drawing board. The word of God is in the holy book, and the things that are there, were approved by God, or they would not be there. Don't you think someone who has the capability of making you, the universe, and every living thing, would have power of what went into His book for all to go by. just sit still and think about it.

There's a really tall pole outside the edge of town where I live with a big flashing light on top of it. I asked the town cop once what that light out there was for, since it's kind of off by itself and it didn't seem to serve no purpose. He said it was so that airplanes would see the light and not hit the pole. So I asked him what the pole was for and he said "You dummy, it's to hold up the light bulb." There's a moral in that story somewhere but I can't remember just what it is right now.

I've been meaning to ask a similar question myself.
Basically, even if we allow for the misguided belief that there is proof of God's existence all around us (a thought that only convinces people who already believe), another big question remains: why THEIR God? There's really not any good answer to this question from what I've seen and what I think, and I consider myself to be pretty logical.
Furthermore, almost every experience with God that I've heard about is an experience with love, compassion, etc, not judgment or hatred. The one or two bad ones that I've heard are clearly nonsense, though I allow for the possibility that other, less absurd experiences may exist. So, what proof is there for even THESE people of any particular God except the notion of God = Love? And why choose a religion if you feel that love?

The Bible was written over a 1,600 year period. It's writers lived at different times and came from many walks of life. Despite the varied backgrounds of its writers, the Bible is harmonious from beginning to end. The harmony of the Bible is impressive, but what would you expect of a book from God?
The Bible also includes detailed ancestry records, and is scientificially accurate. It contains information that was far ahead of its time. For example, Leviticus contained laws for ancient Israel on quarantine and hygiene when surrounding nations knew nothing about such matters. At a time when there were wrong ideas about the shape of the earth, (many believed it was flat) the Bible itself referred to it as a circle, or sphere. Isaiah 40:22 says 'There is one who is dwelling above the circle of the earth.' The Bible accurately said that the earth 'hangs on nothing.' (Job 26:7)
In contrast to secular historians, who often do not mention the defeat of their own people, Bible writers were honest, even recording their own failings and those of their nation. For instance, in Numbers, Moses admits his own serious error for which he was severely reproved. (Numbers 20:2-12) This rare honesty also supports the fact that the Bible is a book from God.
Although the Bible was written long ago, it is still beneficial for our day. Consider the Sermon on the Mount, recorded in Matthew Chapters 5 to 7. Jesus words are just as powerful and practical today as when he spoke them. The Bible's counsel is always beneficial.
There are countless prophecies in the Bible that were written years in advance which were later fulfilled down to the smallest details. For example, the Bible foretold that the city of Babylon would be destroyed (Isiah 13:19;14:22,23) Details were given to show how this would happen. Invading armies would dry up Babylon's river and march into the city without a battle. Isiah's prophecy even named the King who would conquer Babylon-Cyrus. -Isiah 44:27-45:2
Some 200 years after this prophecy was written, an army encamped near Babylon. It's commander was a persian king named Cyrus. The Babylonians were holding a festival that night and felt secure behind their massive city walls. Meanwhile, Cyrus clearly diverted the water of the river that flowed throught the city. Soon the water was shallow enough for his men to cross the riverbed, and approach the walls of the city. But how would Cyrus's army get past Babylon's walls and overtake Babylon without a fight? For some reason, on that night the doors of the city were carelessly left open!
It was foretold: "She will never be inhabited, nor will she reside for generation after generation."(Isiah 13:20) This prophecy showed that Babylon would be desolated permanently. And to this day Babylon is still uninhabited.
There were also many prophecies in regard to Jesus that were all fulfilled. Some of these prophecies include: Jesus would be born of the tribe of Judah, or as a descendant of David. (Genesis 49:10; Isaiah 9:6, 7; 11:1, 10; Matthew 1:2-16) He would be born in Bethlehem. (Micah 5:2; Luke 2:1-7) He would be betrayed for 30 pieces of silver (Zechariah 11:12; Matthew 26:15); his enemies would spit on him (Isaiah 50:6; Matthew 26:67); He would be reviled while hanging from the executional stake (Psalm 22:7, 8; Matthew 27:39-43); He would be pierced, but not a bone in his body would be broken (Zechariah 12:10; Psalm 34:20; John 19:33-37); and soldiers would cast lots for his garments (Psalm 22:18; Matthew 27:35). These are merely a few of the many prophecies fulfilled in the man Jesus.
Considering these points is truly faith-strengthening, is it not. It is obvious that the Bible is truly the word of God.

Your certitude is based on faith. Faith is believing in something you cannot see. If your looking for abolute certitude you will not find it this side of heaven. There is no faith in heaven. Think about it for a minute. Faith is believe in something you cannot see. When in Heaven you see God face to face. Therefore there is no faith in heaven.
We believe that the bible is true because Christ came and established the Catholc Church. It is through the tradition of the Church and the working of the Holy Spirit in that tradition that we know the bible is true.
The early Christians didn't have full bibles. There were no printing presses. People didn't walk to church with bibles in their hands.
Thats why many of the medieval cathedrals were bibles in stone and glass.

If someone is the believer of Christ or whatever the terms being used, she/he knows that the Bible is the word of GOD by reading it every day to guide us always in righteousness, since the word of God is our inspiration to live and to help other people to believe that GOD is LOVE.

Jesus is the Living Word. When we read the Bible with an open mind, God's Spirit bears witness in our hearts that it is true. We can chose to listen to or ignore this Voice.
