I got a tattoo yesterday on the top of my foot that extends alittle bit above my ankle. So I know all the aftercare procedures. But now I'm at work (I'm on my feet alot)--before I came to work I cleaned it and wrapped plastic wrap around it and put my sock over it and put my work shoes on. The problem is, my work shoes kinda make my feet sweat (gross I kno), so should I just leave the plastic wrap on? Is it okay if I leave it on or what do you suggest? I work at a hospital so its not possible for me to wear flip flops or sandals like i can when im not here. ((i never thought to ask my tattoo artist this lol))

TAKE THAT PLASTIC WRAP OFF!! NOW!!!
It's a breeding ground for bacteria. It will ruin your tattoo or worse cause infection. Use gauze if you want to cover it. Call your artist and see what he/she recommends.

Your tattoo artist should have advised you to come back on a day before having a couple days off. Now that it is too late, never, ever use plastic wrap on a tattoo. I have written volumes on that issue here.
Use whatever aftercare product you were told and wear clean, dry white socks. Change them mid day after applying more aftercare product and do this for several days until you are peeling and it is no longer tender.

you are supposed to only keep the plastic wrap on until a few hours after you got the tattoo. take the wrap off, and never put it in again. your tattoo will not be able to breathe, and won't heal. if you have to wear closed shoes at work, then you picked a wrong time and place to get a tattoo there. these are things to think of BEFORE! your tattoo won't heal properly.

I suggest the whole better planning concept... what also might be a good idea is buying a foot powder that will prevent sweating. Check with your tat artist first, he or she will know best if that could interfere with your tattoo, but it's definitely an idea. Otherwise, when you're not on your feet, stay off of them and let your foot breathe to heal correctly.
Best of luck!!

Call your tattoo artist ASAP. The day after I got stars on my left foot, I had work and at my job I am always on my feet. (I work at Aeropostale) I wore flip flops, and the thick strap completely covered my stars and rubbed them all day. Very annoying, but I couldn't do a thing about it. Next time plan better.

call your tattoo artist....
it seems like leaving the wrap on with the sweating wouldn't be good but the only person who would know for sure is the artist....
if you shouldn't use plastic, they may give you alternatives...

If your artist said to wrap plastic around it, I would have to say deal with it until you can not have to wear the wrap anymore.

I haven't had a tatt there so can't really answer but it is probably best to call your tatt artist and ask him. I was told NOT to cover mine at all with anything apart from my normal clothes and cream.
