they "love" being a mormon and "love" the "only true church", why does it make my heart ache so much and why do I feel like I want to cry?

They really don't know, do they?

I am hurting for them. Not for myself. I am very content with where I am in life. I just don't want to see another soul go through what I went through.

I'm sorry that you had a bad experience with the LDS church. I respect your decision to leave and I sincerely hope that you are happy in life now. I am LDS and I do love it. I don't want you to hurt or be offended by that. I think we all have our own ways of faith and we all have our own interpretations of what is "right" in our hearts.

Did you just leave the church? That might explain why. When I left I felt so bad for my friends because I felt they were blinded and brainwashed. Then the more I thought about it, why did I feel sorry for them and not my other religious friends? I don't believe in any of it, and therefore I don't think the LDS/Mormon church is any more wrong for someone than the Catholic or Jehovah Witnesses or Methodist churches are. If they're happy, then I'm thrilled for them.

Hi, Big O

Once religion got a foothold on mankind,,we were doomed. You can't win either way. The " true believers" are brainwashed( they can't admit it ) and will never change. If you suggest that maybe others have a valid point of view , they turn a deaf ear..It is the reason behind most wars and deaths thruout the centuries.

Peace to all.

People believe what their life experiences tell them to believe. And if they have found a religion that makes them truly happy and it doesnt harm anyone else, then there''s nothing wrong with finding internal peace.

And it's been my experience people have a lot of misconceptions about the mormon faith (ie. mormons don't practice polygamy, at least not the extremeists, but there's extremeists in everything).

Oscar Wilde is credited with saying "You can't reason a man out of something he didn't reason himself into."

Once you've been in the morg, it takes a while to break off the engagement. Most members either want you back immediately, or to just go away altogether. "Acceptance" of who and what you are is contrary to lds culture.

But I think you already found that out.

I know it won't make a difference to anyone else, but I know that the gospel is true and I love the Savior and my Heavenly Father with all my heart, mind, and spirit. I don't believe I could ever live a happier life if I didn't have the church in my life.

Because you feel pity for yourself not having the freedom to reach for a gospel outside the confines of your bible.

No matter how much the Christians tell themselves they have the truth, it simply isn't going to happen. Your tree is dead. Your foundation is pretense. You pipe, but nobody will dance!

They are caught up with the "big fish in a little pond" mentality.

In the ocean pple can see just how insignificant their views & gods are to the big picture.

I feel the same way about all churches and religions. And, of course, the brainwashed never know....

because you have enough love in your heart to be concerned about them. we all wonder why there is so many different faiths especially when there is one true GOD.
You have a true heart.
