Don't you study science in school? Or you were never paying attention to the subject then.

The earth came into existence as a result of natural processes. You can look it up if you are interested. I have read it all but I don't remember all the details.

There is no externally imposed "purpose" of life. Life has whatever meaning you give to it. Do something meaningful.

(What purpose is there for a Christian? The greater glory of god? What does god need you for?)

What happens when we die is we no longer exist. It's exactly like before you were born. Nothingness.

Enjoy life while you're here. Don't put off until tomorrow...

earth is a result of gases and dusts floating around. everything has gravity. tiny atoms gather up and begin to gain a greater mass. then it pulls in other things like dusts floating around and as the mass grows bigger, so does the pull it has. over thousands, probably millions of years, it became a planet. jsut as any other planet came into existence. not just in our solar system, everywhere else.

Our purpose on earth is the same as anything else on earth. there is none. purpose is the reason for existence. it, in your meaning, is something decided by humans. there doesnt have to be a purpose. can something exist without a purpose? so our purpose on earth is non existent.

When we die, our body decays. There is nothing else to it. there is no afterlife that we go to. we have no souls. when you die, it is nothing. nothingness. no thoughts, no life to live after. just imagine a picture and then somone turns off the lights. there is no more picture. you lose all thoughts. there is nothing.

As the vast majority of religious people including Christians agree with atheists (no apostrophe necessary) about the origins of the universe, the development of the solar system and the evolution of life on this planet, why restrict your question to atheists? The religious will claim that a god triggered the Big Bang and started the life process on the planet but apart from that, atheists and Christians are in full agreement.

It is not the Christians but the Old Testament Fundamentalists, the Young Earth Creationists that have problems with science.

Archaean bacteria were the first lives; they formed as soon as the water condensed, the earth was almost cool, the comets stopped striking, and before the sun began to shine. The tiny lives were loaded with information provided by the vast intelligence; life is not possible without millions of orders sent every second.

This is the truth that almost every known tribe or civilization has sought. Students are entitled to know and teachers should be equipped by this web site to teach this truth.

Past generations have been handicapped by fake drawings designed to prove false conclusions for the last 100 years. Texts @ graduate level, carefully directed to steer graduates away from the Archaeans for 50 years, and unfounded speculations without supporting evidence, have handicapped past generations.

earth wasn't formed from some giant dude who has all sorts of powers that was only thought up of when the world was still ignorant of many things and true education wasn't valued, just crazy excuses, it was formed from a very reasonable theory called the big bang, what is our purpose? To live, we have no purpose, we were just brought to life and not teleported by some imaginary dude. And lastly, nothing happens, your stone cold dead, no soul moving to some happy place or bad place some people just made up for more excuses, just nothing happens, your life is ended and your purpose is pretty much served, you lived it out, now your dead.

More truth then some imaginary dude.

1. Long story- has a great deal to do with distance from the sun, gravity, hydrogen and oxygen combining to create water, plate tectonics... you get the picture.

2. That's up to the individual. I think we as humans are responsible for assigning our own purpose. As far as a preordained purpose goes- I see no reason for us to have a reason to exist. We're not special- just smart animals with vivid imaginations.

3. Then our brain stops working- and thus perception ends... when we die its the same as before we were born. There is nothing.

I believe in the big bang theory... formation of hot gases that swirled around as matter was created (yes, matter can be created from nothing) until our sun and planets formed. Earth just happened to be the correct distance to be not too hot or cold and can support life.

I believe our purpose is to live. Nothing more or less. In living, we treat others as we'd like to be treated, don't lie, steal or otherwise treat others badly.

When we die, our brains shut down and we cease breathing. We no longer have consciousness and our bodies deteriorate. But we are gone.

1. I'm not positive, but i definitely do not believe in a magical being... i think that in the future more questions will be answered about things like that. big bang?

2.there isn't a purpose here, we are born to die, just like all animals, we evolved into "civilized homosapiens" just like all animals we have a nature of survival, to feed, and eat.

3. single celled micro-organisms stay alive from your skin, from there you will probably become soil for the earth, maybe become one with a seed to a plant or something.

all depends... i know there is nothingness after death though.

I'm not an Atheist but on most of this I agree with them.

For my opinions of how the earth and all it's life came into existence watch the science channel because it would take way to much room to write it down. It's not a small formula and wanting a simple formula is physics envy.

Our purpose is whatever we choose it to be. We have no choice but to choose, even the religious are confounded by free will. It's simple our purpose is determined by our choices.

When we die we rot or digest depending on how we die.
-----------------------------------------

My personal choice is to seek god and by god I mean love in all that I do.

Blessed Be!

The earth came into existance the same way all of the other billions of gallaxies/solar systems did-the big bang. What caused the big bang?-nobody knows.
My purpose is to make myself and my family as happy as I can and not harm others in the process.
You cease to exist as a thinking being when you die.
