I don't think life begins at conception; I think that it shouldn't be considered a person until the baby can survive OUTSIDE of the mother.

What do you think?

It is a matter of opinion as always; it is said that when a fetus is aborted...even if it would not physically have the capability of full survival it takes a breath and that is considered "life".

I personally happen to agree with you; however, I also believe that abortion is only an option when it there is a mortal health threat to either the mother or child...and in cases of incest and rape.

I guess that question could be debatable kinda like the chicken and the egg concept. Know this, Adam and Eve was created as full grown people. Last week, my neighbor's daughter gave a birthday party for her son's 2-year old birthday; she was 4- months pregnant at the time. The placenta tore away from her uterine wall. No baby can survive without a placenta. That precious little boy is walking and is almost potty trained! I can not speak for anybody else, but I say" LOOK AT GOD! I believe abortion is murder when it is used as a form of birth control. When a fetus is taken from a mother when it jepodizes the mother's life is not abortion.

Murder is an act which is defined as the unlawful taking of life. But not all acts of taking life are murder. The start of this great argument about abortion is defining exactly when life begins in the fetus. Then this is only the beginning - there will still be an issue of whether the taking of a fetus life is unlawful in the sense of murder or couched in some lesser term. From my own point of view, when I was a junior Doctor working in hospital I saw two women die from back street abortions. Just at that time the abortion Act came into being (UK - 1967) For the next two years I admitted no more back street abortion cases and I saw no more deaths. Yes, its abused, but the lesser of two evils.

Do more research. I've seen a video where they show you shredded bits of baby and ask you to decide if you consider that a life lost. Have you been to an abortion clinic? If you were to take the baby out of the womb before it's ready then that's not murder? If you punch a woman in the stomach when she's only like three weeks pregnant and her baby is born dead, is that alright because it wasn't really a baby that died but only a fetus?

I almost had one a couple of times. My children were born beautiful and well-loved. Me and the father weren't sure having our daughter was the right thing to do until after she was born. Now she is that man's whole life!

Then I married another man and got pregnant again and got really scared due to some complications. I wondered if I was doing the right thing for the right reason. My husband wouldn't hear of it. You should see what a joy he is and how happy he makes us. He was born around the same month and same Chinese year as me. I don't think people should be scared into doing this terrible thing. They don't know how things will be for sure until that day comes.

Whatever circumstance the child is born into was not the baby's fault. All these poor childless couples are dying to have a baby while so many babies are being flushed down the toilet instead of being given a chance to live. I believe that abortion should only be allowed under dire straits.

I think thats the biggest crock of sh** i ever heard. Life is life, Murder is Murder. If girls dont want a child then they should keep their legs closed or do something to prevent pregnancy. In the case of rape or serious health issues, This is the only excusable reason and even then i still feel its wrong but i could accept it then (even for myself) quicker than anything else. Abortion is not a form of birth control. Even though there is many Girls who think that it is. Its a whole lot easier taking a pill or "wrapping" it up than dealing with a baby ur not ready for or having to live with the guilt of making a decison to abort an innocent baby.

I think anytime before the featus is 16 weeks old. At 16 weeks, the doctor can tell the sex of the featus, at that point I start to think of it as a potential person. But having an abortion as late as you say, is not healthy. Once you have to stay overnight at the clinic to get an abortion, you waited too long. When you say the baby can survive outside of the mother, do you mean with or with out machines?

Why is self-sufficient survival the criterion for personhood? Does your ability to survive independantly make you a person? Or is it rather your experientiality. Would you no longer be a person if you could not survive without some sort of aid? If you were fed through a tube and had to have a breathing machine, what difference is that from not being able to survive without a placenta? And what about siamese twins who cannot be seperated? Are they a single person because they cannot survive independant of one another, or are they two people because they have seperate experiential minds? Isn't it murder to take a living patient off of life support (against their will) even though they cannot survive without it?

This whole idea of survival without the mother being the qualification for personhood is arbitrary, and not based on any idea of what a person actually is. Personhood and survivability are in no way connected concepts. Your premise is not well founded.

As for when life begins, a fertilized egg is clearly alive by all objective standards. But then again, it was alive before it was fertilized too, and so was the sperm that fertilized it. And so are your muscle, bone, and blood cells. No clear thinking person would think it murder to kill a living blood cell.

But what seperates the living fertilized egg from a blood cell? Simply that a fertilized egg is a whole human being, and properly nurtered will grow into a full adult human being over time. It is an organism, as it can survive as a distinct creature from its mother, just so long as it remains in its natural environment of the womb. It feeds off of the nourishment in the mother's blood stream, but unlike an organ, the mother's tissue and blood vessles do not permiate it, it has its own tissue and blood vessels that extract the nutrients from the mother via the placenta.

Any clear thinking person can see that a human being is an organism even when it is a single cell fertilized egg. Being dependant on a specialized environment does not make it any less so.

Although our society tends to avoid commitments and inalienable responsibilities, God did not design things to work that way. Pregnancy and motherhood are inalienable responsibilities, whether they were asked for or not. We live in a fallen world and life isn't fair. But doing wrong to another person (the unborn child) will only pass the unfairness forward to another person. And the general practice of passing unfairness and selfishness forward is the reason our world is in such a mess.

A person is a person from conception, and that is not my oppinion, it is a fact, as I have demonstrated above. No matter who says otherwise or how loudly they say it, they cannot change it. Therefore abortion is murder from conception. It is terminating the life of a human organism, which is by definition murder.

I hope this clarifies things! God bless!

This question has come up throughout Church history. The Holy Spirit has lead the Church to the conclusion that life begins at Conception. This teaching is so universal in the Church that it is beyond doubt at this point.
St Thomas Aquinas said that if you stop a life from being born at any stage, you are still killing the potential of the person to become a full grown human being.

its murder the minute the child is concepted and the cells begin multiplying. if you already know you are pregnant, its murder because the child is alive. In my opinion, it is the worst kind of murder because that child has done absolutely nothing in its entire existance to deserve to be murdered. Abortion is murder of defenseless innocents. Also, babys can think and feel a lot earlier than you would think. do some research. And for any of you who say making abortion illegal would be an infringement on womens rights, think about this;

who is sticking up for that childs rights?

I strongly believe that as soon as it is fertalized it is murder. My biological mom aborted two of the children right before me. I still see them as my brothers/sisters and wish they could have lived too. I personally almost died being that close to my deciding between abortion and adoption. Face your consequences if you had sex before marriage and act like an adult. It's your own fault. If it was because of rape, I'm truely sorry but put them up for adoption. They may become life changers or savers to someone.
