You need to encourage her to get professional help as soon as she can. I don't know how old she is but there are programs to help with the cost of therapy. It is all completely confidential. It is excellent that she has your support and very encouraging that she was courageous enough to come forward with this. Offer to accompany her to her counseling appointments. it will be very difficult and emotional so stay supportive. She has so much ahead of her. Remind her that she is not alone. Many others have gone through this. Maybe she can find a support group. She is lucky to have a good support network of friends like you.

Honestly, there isnt much she can do.. Maybe if she came forward and told someone a day or so after it happened.. But to me it sounds like this was a while back and its one of those cant be proven kind of things.. The only thing I know of that she can do is just to remind herself that it was in the past and this is now and she has a future she needs to worry more about. It kinda worries me.. Did your friend not fight back? Did she not scream hoping that someone close by would hear her? I mean I dont know much about the situation but it should have been reported soon after it happened.

First off, tell her to get on this site and see what everyone has said, this should help her to realize that there are people willing to help her, just as you have. And secondly, get that report filed! As with most rape victims, they give themselves over to the fear of the assailant, having that man put in jail, or worse, labeled as a sex offender, would not only prevent future girls in danger, but show that the world is just. I'll pray, GOD bless

I don't know how many years ago it was, but she should still file a report. Anything that isn't written down didn't happen.... so make sure that the police has it black on white. I'm sure it's in her interest that the stepbrother doesn't do it again to somebody else.

I know a girl that went through the same thing when she was 11.
She went to councellers etc.. But the councellers brainwashed her, Alot of people who got involved have ruined her life, by forcing her to go to the police, theropy etc...
All you need to do is let her come to you and talk... and when she is ready she will make that decission for herself

She can't get help over the internet for something like that. She needs to talk with a mental health professional like a therapist and a psychiatrist.

Well, You can help her.
You can tell her to contact the police and file a report. You can also tell her that it's not her fault she got raped.
She should be so lucky to have such incompetent friends.
