Many people think that when they sweat while they're working out—they're losing fat. It's not true that they're sweating off fat. When you sweat during your workout you're losing water. If you weigh yourself before your workout and then again afterwards, the difference between the two is water weight, not fat weight.
One can literally sweat off pounds, but this does not mean that it there will be any long term effect. The reduction in inches and pounds due to profuse perspiration are only temporary—as fluid is soon replaced by drinking or eating. More importantly, however, is that this approach to weight loss can be extremely dangerous.
How much fat you "lose" during exercise depends on several factors. These include fitness level, body mass, the duration and intensity of your workout, and when you ate your last meal.
Your ability to sweat is not a measure of your fitness. Sweating is nothing more than the most efficient factor in your body's temperature regulation ability. Some people sweat more than others.
Sweating acts as a cooling mechanism for the body. When body temperatures rises during exercise, the heart pumps faster to move blood to the organs more rapidly, and absorb the heat. During strenuous exercise, the blood becomes too warm to cool the organs; at this point, sweat glands kick in to cool the body and maintain proper temperatures.
The most effective way for you to keep your "sweat mechanism" healthy is to drink plenty of water before, during and after exercise. Then you don't have to worry about overheating, dehydrating, and feeling awful after you work out!
Wearing plastic pants or a fleece sweat suit won't make you lose fat weight more quickly than if you dress comfortably. Wearing excessive clothing during exercise may interfere with the body's ability to cool itself, and result in mild to severe heat illness.
Another common myth about sweating is that it rids the body of toxins. Sweat is nothing more than water, salts, and ureas. The body isn't detoxified when it sweats; the only thing it gets rid of is water and a few salts.

sweating is just the body's way of cooling off. it's just the water weight. You will get back about 80% of that "sweat" because you will rehydrate yourself by drinking water. The best way to lose your weight though is not by focusing on sweating a lot. Focus on toning your muscles and turning the fat into muscle. Good luck!

Yes, but not the type of weight you want to lose (fat). Sweating is a way of regulating body temperature (since it gets too hot internally), so it uses water to get rid of the heat.
This loss in water makes you lose weight, but not fat.

Nice thought, but not practical. Sweating is actually a vehicle for removing the toxins from your body. It also helps to cool your body.
If you are really serious about loosing weight, go to this link. http://www.beachbody.com/jump.jsp?itemID=239&itemType=CATEGORY&path=1,2,21. You will find that the program is fun and works fairly fast, but it is not a quick fix. If you are looking for a quick fix without dedication, then you may as well throw your money down the toilet.
You must be willing to dedicate yourself to the program in order for it to work. I myself am 52 going on 53 this month and will be using it very soon.

no, sweat and fat are two different things. sweat is water weight mixed with toxins and fat - you dont see it coming out from anywhere the same way you dont see car leaking gas.
