I have heard Mormons approach it from both sides. Many insist that they are *not* Christians, but many get offended when you say that they are not Christians.

We do consider ourselves christians. We believe in everything that Christians belive in but we also have another testement from Jesus Christ which was Restored by Joseph Smith. Meaning basically he was told where he could find bokks from the prophets from the days that Christ walked the earth and after Christ died, and brought back the gosple that Jesus taught to people while he was on earth.

Technically, Atom was right; the believers in the Bible referred to themselves as SAINTS, not CHRISTIAN. Christian was a term given them by the non-believing pagans.
However, by the world's definition of "Christian", then we are Christian.
However, as "mainline/traditional/orthodox" Christian, no, we aren't.
Restored is what our church is; restored to what it was in the time of Chist and shortly thereafter. The priesthood, prophets and apostles, and continuing revelation from God.

That is what ONE LDS poster said. Why would you take the word of ONE poster, and assume that they represent what ALL members of LDS think ?
