I thought Jesus saves? It breaks my heart that these people pray to God for days and then they find out that it was all for nothing because the people still died.

This is why.
(Ecclesiastes 9:11) 11 I returned to see under the sun that the swift do not have the race, nor the mighty ones the battle, nor do the wise also have the food, nor do the understanding ones also have the riches, nor do even those having knowledge have the favor; because time and unforeseen occurrence befall them all.

Christianity didn't come with a get out of life free of pain card. What our faith offers is comfort from the Scriptures and God's spirit, the most powerful force in the universe is our helper.

With these things we can endure, but some day soon:

(Revelation 21:3-4) . . . “Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his peoples. And God himself will be with them. 4 And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”

They are absolutely safe. The only requirement to receive all that God has for you as a christian is to Believe. Christians are safe from all things. The problem with most people is that they know the word but they don't beleive it (and there is a difference). In sickness the word says that by his stripe we are healed but you must beleive that even when the doctor has given you a bad report (whose report will you receive). We walk by faith and not by sight. God can and will place a hedge of protection over you if you ask him for it and believe you receive it. Here is a fine example of that happening....please read this account: girl went to her friends house and she ended up staying longer than
planned, and had to walk home alone. She wasn't afraid because it was a
small COMMUNITY and she lived only a few blocks away.

As she walked along under the bike trail Diane asked God to keep her
safe from harm and danger.

When she reached the alley, which was a shortcut to her house, she
decided to take it. However, halfway down the alley she noticed a man
standing at the end as though he were waiting for her.

She became uneasy and began to pray, askingfor God's protection.

Instantly a comforting feeling of quietness and security wrapped round
her, she felt as though someone was walking with her.

When she reached the end of the alley, she walked right past the man and
arrived home safely.
The following day, she read in the newspaper that a young girl had been
raped in the same alley just twenty minutes after she had been there.

Feeling overwhelmed by this tragedy and the fact that it could have been
her, she began to weep.

Thanking the Lord for her safety and to help this young woman, she
decided to go to the police station.

She felt she could recognize the man, so she told them her story.

The police asked her if she would be willing to look at a lineup to see
if she could identify him.

She agreed and immediately pointed out the man she had seen in the alley
the night before.

When the man was told he had been identified, he immediately broke down
and confessed.

The officer thanked Diane for her bravery and asked if there was
anything they could do for her.

She asked if they would ask the man one question.
Diane was curious as to why he had not attacked her.

When the policeman asked him, he answered, "Because she wasn't alone.
She had two tall men walking on either side of her."

Amazingly, whether you believe or not, you're not alone.
Hope this helps!!!

God was not responsbile for the killers, collapsing mines and defective equipment. He had nothing to do with it. If the "church going christians" defended themselves from the killers, if they made sure that the mines were a safe place to work, if they made sure that their equipment were in good operating order, then all those things may have never happened. We should not use god's name as an excuse or blame god for all our misfortunes.

Do you understand that most regular church going Christians in America have no idea of who God is? The majority are hypocrites addicted to porn, adultery, divorce, disobedient to parents, truce-breakers, unholy, heady, high minded, fierce, lovers of pleasure more than lovers of God, without natural affection, having a form of godliness but denying the power- from such turn away! They haven't read or understood the warning in Proverbs ch 1. and countless others. If the blind lead the blind BOTH will fall into the ditch.

Why aren't irregular-churgh-going Christians, non-church-going Christians or even non-Christians, for that matter, exempt from disasters? Why are you looking at mere outward appearances - church-going on a regular basis?

Your second question can be affirmed. Yes, Jesus saves us. But from what? From our sin. That's our PERSONAL sin that alienates us from the holy and righteous God. But other sinners affect others with their sin. Consider veneral diseases, AIDS, Hep C etc, so often passed on to innocent people. God is not to blame for that any more than they are. The sinners who contaminate others are responsible. Yet they, too, can be forgiven through Christ, if they repent.

Your broken heart should be for those who never pray. Those who pray are given grace to glorify God in the midst of their suffering. They witness to an unbelieving world of the inner strength that God gives to deal with whatever the world throws at us. The righteous live by faith, not by immunity. Otherwise, everyone would be rushing to sign up to Christianity for all the wrong, selfish reasons. Christ calls sinners to repentance and at that point, transfers them from death to life.

The prayers of a believer never go lead to nothingness or are never in vain. Sometimes our time is cut short in this life and some of us are poor and suffer. Trials are part of life and expected. God doesnt always save us because sin is in the world and sometimes bad things happen to good people...but if one suffers or dies who is saved, their soul is saved and our soul will forever live in eternity in the kingdom of heaven and we will be blessed for what we endured and still keeping our faith through it all.

God did not promise this life to be easy, in fact it is hard, you can't live a life with some form of grief. I am a Christian. Do I worry about dying tomorrow, not really, why would it happen? I have lots more work to do, i think. But if it does, I'm pretty sure I'll be stoked to be in heaven with my Lord.

Don't feel sorry for those who die with faith, they never had any delusions (except maybe those that we all get a bit of) that they wouldn't perish. It is just life.

God promises that eventually all things work out to the greater good....God does not promise us protection from evil, sadness tribulation or harm. He just says to turn these things over to Him and he will guide us through.

God has allowed Satan to be in charge of the world for a time, and if he stepped in and saved everyone, the world would not go in the direction it is going in, which is into destruction.

Scriptures in the new testament quote the souls of the saints crying for God to avenge their deaths...God admonishes for them to wait a little longer and all scores will be settled.

God promises comfort to all who are suffering and lean on Him...He has brought me through such personal loss and grief, and I am stronger and more in love with him than ever...God Bless

IT rains on the just and the unjust.

Bad things happen to the good and the bad.

Good things happen to the saved and the unsaved.

The earth is full of sin and the consequenses of sin, and until the new heaven and the new earth come down, we will all have to deal with what happens here on earth, saved or unsaved.
The bible tells us this upfront. Our real treasure is up in heaven and waiting for us.

everything happens for good, even those accidents and deadly diseases are a sign of god's grace. People learn more from calamities than they learn from mundane boring life. Sometime people need a wakeup call. Just going to church while leading a corrupt life outside the church is not going to help.
