It is true? My friend told me this, but I'm not sure if it's actually real.

Olive oil is not for bleaching hair. It's actually a good, natural way of conditioning your hair without all the chemicals! If you're interested in this method of conditioning your hair, feel free to go to google and type in, 'condition hair with olive oil'. It makes your hair shine and very smooth!

NO. otherwise you'd see all the middle eastern women with blonde hair.. We here in SaudiArabia use olive oil by the bucket fulls to condition our hair..
Now on the other hand, if you use lemon juice and sit in the sun, it will bleach it.. I used to do this in high school with my friends to get highlights... but it dries your hair out, so again, we used olive oil to condition it after the lemon bleach.

Not even close. Olive Oil is a good oil to use for a hot oil treatment on your hair though!

You can deep condition your hair with olive oil, but I've never heard for it bleaching hair...its a food product and it doesn't contain any acids so I don't see how it would be chemically possible.

Cut up a lemon and rub it through your hair and go out in the sun. I'm not sure how the chemical reaction between the lemon and the sun works, but that will lighten your hair and streak it. It won't "bleach" it though.

You bleach your hair with bleach. You use olive oil to increase hair shine.

I have never heard that. I have put olive oil in my hair to moisturize it and it hasn't lightened it at all. I have always heard that lemon juice will lighten your hair if you put it in and go out in the sun.

The only thing olive oil will do to your hair is make it softer.
