For you information, dear Christians, and apparently Emily V, too, the Latter-day Saints are not Christians. We are Saints. No true church of Jesus Christ would call themselves Christians like the Christians define the word. And I would hate to think that any Saint would call himself a Christian, but some of the Saints do call themselves Christians, which is confusing to the world, and they really ought to call themselves the Saints, because that is what they are.

Indeed, the last thing the Mormons are is a SECT of Christianity, because we do not subscribe to the same doctrines as the Christians. Just read the 13 Articles of Faith that the church publishes and you will quickly see that.

Christianity comprises of Catholics and Protestants. Either way, their doctrines stem from the Dark Age. The doctrines of the Mormons claims to come from divine works of our age, not the Dark Age, and thus the LDS Church is known as a RESTORED church because of it. Not a REFORMED church like the protestant SECTS. Not a branch of the Catholic church, or any other organization that came out of the Dark Age of the world.

But in all honesty, this is why the Christians hate the Latter-day Saints so much! Indeed, the only thing all these different denominations seem to agree on is to hate the Latter-day Saints for claiming what they simply can't, because of their vain traditions and superstitions.

It sucks being locked into one book of scripture (the bible) because of the false traditions of your forefathers, isn't it?

Get it? Got it! Good.
Ignorance is a terrible thing...

I have no clue, but judging by the answers, not hated, but disliked - The Jehovah's Witnesses?

Not meant to offend, just my conclusion, could be wrong (shrug)

Then again many here dislike LDS Mormons..... so, will comment no further and let Christians answer here.

P.S. - don't hate anyone of any Religion, but get annoyed at ppl. going from door to door & preaching :-(

Born-again Christianity (although, in reality, it's not a sect).

Fred Phelps' Westover Baptist Church, probably, at least in the USA. They've been protesting at soldiers funerals saying that God hates the US and that the soldiers are in Hell for defending the country. They also are the ones who protest at the funerals of people with AIDS, and march at Gay Pride events, screaming "God Hates F*gs!"

I don't know, but it seems to me that if you look the history of the Mormons, there has been quite a bit of persecution towards the mormons.
