Lately my dog has been rubbing her butt on the carpet. I know that thats usually a sign of worms, but i have been checking her poop and haven't seen anything.
Why else could she be doing this?

It's impacted anal glands. I also once believed this was a sign of worms, but it is not. I am a vet tech and am sure this is what it is. You could express them yourself but you would be better off to ask your vet. You don't even need an appointment. Just call and ask to bring your dog in to have his/her anals expressed. its probably like $10

Best guess is that she has tapeworms or roundworms. It makes their butt itch and they scratch that area by rubbing on the carpet. If you look at her poop, you make see some white wriggling worms. If you look on her fur by her behind you may see some dried pieces of worms that look like white rice. The only way to know for sure is to go to the vet. The test is painless and cheap. The treatment is medicine or an injection. It works better than the over the counter stuff at the store. Go to the vet. Better safe than sorry. Lots of cats get worms, so it's nothing to be ashamed or scared of.

worms are the first thing you think of when you see a dog scooting on carpet, another thing that happens is this: when dogs poop sometimes they do not excrete all of it and it will build up in their anal gland, this gland has to be manually "expressed" to release the back up crud, dog groomers usually do this when they bathe dogs(good ones do this anyway)also, hair gets caught up in their butt hole and sometimes makes it hard to poop, or it gets itchy and infected on the inside......sometimes an itch is just an itch:)

yep my dogs have done it too, the reason as to why dogs do that is because they need their "anal glands" squeezed. Don't worry, it sounds disgusting and you won't have to personally do it yourself. Either go to the vet and ask them to do it or, the local groomers should also provide that service. Every now and then the glands get backed up, its not painful for the dog, but a rather annoying situation.

Its usually because their anal glands are full and applying pressure helps relieve the full feeling........ I have a few dogs that do this have never taken them to the vet, itll pass. All the vet will do is (nasty) squeeze their behind area and show u how to do it at home yourself. But they say that when you start helping them by squeezing the glands youll more than likely have to do it quite often.

1st yes it may be a sign of parasite but sometimes you don't see it on their stool ( there are all kind of parasite you dog can have )but it is best still to get them tested for parasite or maybe their bum has hair and its irritating them making it itchy so there goes the butt rubbing carpet ...many factors lead to butt rubbing carpet the best solution is to get you dog checked by you vet for your dogs safety and health and as for yours too...I hope this helps a bit.....or maybe the anal glands needs to be cleaned by your vet or groomer......

She has an itch. And she is scratching it.

Worms are not necessarily seen in the poop. If you think she could have picked up some worms have her checked at the vet.

even if you haven't seen the worms, she may still have them. You need a vet to do a fecal test to be sure. But, she could just have a itchy butt, or is wiping her *** on your carpet ;)

It is usually worms, you will not necessarily see it in their poop. Get to the vet, i know it'll probably cost a little bit, but its worth it to get a professionals opinion.

Dogs have glands by it rear end that get plugged up and need to be squeezed out. Yeah I won't do it myself. Some groomers will take care of this problem and so will vets. You can learn to do it yourself if you want Call your local groomer or vet.
