We recently moved into our condo, we plugged in the TV, and cable wire (thinking it would clear up the picture) and we found that we had cable! well over the weekend it stopped working, and there is a little tab thing outside on the line saying if you want cable to call the company! We do want it, and are willing to pay! but my question is, will we get in trouble? when they see that tag? or will it not matter? just curious..thanks

Why would you tell them you even had the free cable? Just call the number and say you just moved in and want to sign up. They can't be mad at you for something they don't know you did and they can't possibly know you plugged in your TV and you were watching free cable. What happened was simply that the cable company was late shutting off service for the previous residents of the condo.

If you just moved in and didn't enjoy the ''freecable'' more then a week then you have nothing to worry about, they (the last people that lived there.)probally were on the schedule for disconnect that day and it sounds as if you only enjoyed the free cable for only 2 days or less so call them up and order some cable tv.

It's not a problem. They'll be happy to have you as a customer.

BTW, not only can the cable company tell whether your TV is plugged in, they can tell how many TV's are plugged in.

Well I'm pretty sure, if you let the cable company know, and pay for your cable in the future, you'll be fine. Because everyone knows there are a bunch of other people who steal cable.

It really shouldn't matter if you tell them you just moved in. Some cable companies don't care long as they get their money on time.

You did nothing "illegal" it was a mistake on their part, not yours. They left the cable on, so you shouldn't get in trouble.
