I don't think you should buy her a new mp3 player just because she scratched the you gave her up. My question for you is how many mp3 players are you going to buy her? If you buy her a second mp3 player, what if she scratches it up in another two months? Then what? Tell her no, but hell no and be firm.
Honestly, you have a high maintenance girlfriend. Hope your pocketbook can afford it. Good luck.

no you aren't wrong at all. First of all, it was a gift. I'm pretty sure we don't go up to Great Aunt Sally on Christmas and demand something other than that reindeer sweater. So why should she demand a new mp3 player after she didn't take good enough care of the first one you so generously gave her? She's being selfish. If she wants a new one, she can work to save up for it. And if she's going to keep treating you like that - I'd get a girlfriend who's a little more down to earth.

You weren't wrong for buying the mp3 player for her. But you WOULD be wrong for buying her a second one when it works just fine! Even if it were broken, you've done your part in buying it for her. If she broke it, it would be her fault! But a little scratch and she nags about getting a new one!!!??? What an ungrateful, spoiled, little brat!
You owe her absolutely NOTHING! If she scratched the player it's HER fault - NOT yours and you should NOT buy her another player! Tell her to be thankful and grow up.

Heck naw, you would only be wrong if you went out there and got her a new one. Next time she blows up tell her to go and get a job and buy new stuff. Sounds to me like she is just being a spoiled little princess and expects to get her way all the time. She has to realize thats not how the real world works.

man, that was real nice of you to buy that for her in the first place. Sure it has scratches, but you know that's what happens after awhile. I would say no, do not buy her a new one. If anything she seems to be very ungrateful and is acting very childish. she needs to learn that money does not fall off a tree. If she wants a new one, SHE is the one who should buy one, not you and imagine how this chick will react when things do not go her way!! Do you really want to be with someone like that? I know i would not want to. good luck to you!

Aha. If she wants it that badly, she should be able to get it herself, 'imo'. You already poured a hefty amount of money into something that she really likes originally. But then again I'm pretty much cheap and appreciate 2 dollar presents more than diamonds and would much rather go dutch than follow traditional gender roles..aha.
That is, unless she's getting you something of equal importance to you and she's expecting something in return. :P

no you the man. dont buy her a new if the old one is perfectly fine, whats next if you buy her a car and it gets a scratch are you gonna have to by her a new one too? dont spoil them too much because it can cause problems later. let her deal with the one she has. be strong. if she wants a new one let her work for it.

wow, u really need to decide if this girl really likes you or us just using you, if this is true love you will buy her a million mp3 players, you'll get a 2nd job to pay for them, but it kinda sounds to me like she's using u. i think if she really liked you she would take better care of it and not pout about a few scratches

Your girlfriend sounds pretty spoiled to me. You just got it for her, SHE is the one who scratched it up, and now she wants you to buy her a new one? Puh-leeze.
She should not be demanding that you replace a gift that you gave her out of love and that she didn't take proper care of.

That is ridiculous. No you are not wrong for not buying her a new one. That makes good sense that you didn't. If you do then it will just show her that she will be able to get whatever she wants from you.
