The key thing is that they are already taken. Is a psycology thing. I think there are two reasons.
#1 is the happiness factors. We are social animals. People in relationships are usually happier. People are atracted to happy people.
#2 Is that taken people are more attractive because they appear to have something good to them. That is if they are taken then there must have some good quality to them. The opposite is the loner. The first thing people think is there most be something wrong with them. I mean they must be alone for a reason right? Well, this does not have to be true but it is perceive that way. Remember perception does matter.

Maybe they are a little more outgoing, and confident, and the guys notice that.
