1) How do I get my actual ticket
The itinerary is that, what you need is a boarding pass, which you can get on line, or at a kiosk in the airport or at the counter depending on the airline and the city.
2) Where do I go in the airport
You first go to luggage checkin and ticketing where they will (partly direct you further)
3) How early do I need to arive
40 minutes in small airports, 60-75 in larger except on busy travel times then 120 minutes.
4) What do I do with my luggage when i get there
In DFW, you keep your carry on and have to carry your checked luggage, after it is tagged by the airlines, to the TSA examination area. In some other areas, the TSA looks at luggage along the luggage conveyors so the airlines people take it.
5) How do I check in
See above
6) Where do i wait for my flight
Before you start waiting, you have to go through security which will require your boarding pass and a photo ID and want to look at your checked luggage and everything you are carrying in your pockets. Go to the TSA website for a list - for example all tools are banned and containers have to be a small size and in zip lock bags if you carry them on.
Once through security, you will be in an area with the boarding gates plus food, magazine venders, restaurants, and rest rooms. Find your gate, noting what is along the way. You will normally sit in the waiting area and boarding will begin about 20-30 minutes before flight take off time. If you have extra time, you may wish to shop.
7) How will i know when to get on the plane
If you are in the boarding area, you will hear announcements for particular rows. If you are away, you may hear the flight number announced.
If you have any questions, like which door you will be going through and whether the plane is arriving late to pick you up, there should be attendents at the gate.

1) When you walk into the airport, go to the airline desk that your ticket is booked with, e.g, American, Delta, etc.
2) First go to the airline desk that you have your ticket with, they will tell you where to go next.
3) International flights, 1 to 2 hours before departure, domestic flights, about 1 hour before.
4) When you pick up your boarding pass at the airline desk that you have your ticket booked with, they will check your luggage for you. Answer to question 5 as well.
6) After getting your boarding pass, the ground steward will tell you where to go next, e.g, gate number, etc.
7) Most likely, you will walk through a tunnel and at the end you will see where the tunnel ends, there will be air hostesses and stewards waiting (on the plane) to check your boarding pass, have this out at all time, but keep it safe.
I hope this helps you, enjoy your flight. Good Luck. Don't worry, you will be just fine.

1. you will need to get a boarding pass (serves as your ticket). you can do this several ways: if you are not checking bags most airlines let you print a boarding pass online. some will have kiosks at the airport or you can go to the ticket counter and get one. you need a boarding pass and a picture id (drivers license or passport) to get through security.
2. when you get to the sirport there will bea number of tv screens with departure and arrival info. find your flight and it will tell you which terminal and which gate to go to. remember you'll have to go through security first.
3. for domestic flights it's usually best to arrive at least 1 hour before departure. this will allow you enough time to get through security and to your gate.
4. your luggage (if you have more than carry-on) will need to be checked at the ticket counter. if you are checking luggage you cannot print a boarding pass online or at a kiosk. you must go to the ticket counter, check your bags, then get a baording pass there. Carry-ons are limited to 2 items. a small suitcase or bag that can fit in the above storage bins (usually a 21" suitcase is the max) and one small personal bag like a big purse or normal sized backpack.
6. you will wait for your flight at the gate where your flight is departing from. ask the person at the ticket counter exactly where your gate is when you check your bags.
7. the gate attendant will make an announcement when they start boarding the plane. but a general rule is that medium to smaller airplanes start boarding about 20 minutes prior to departre. large airplanes will start boarding earlier.
good luck on your first flight. bring some headphones or something to read as the skymalland airline magazines are usually pretty dead.
p.s. some tips for security. you cannot have any liquids creams or gels in a container larger than 3 ounces. so no water bottles. and you can't take a big container and only fil it with 3 oz. of whatever. check your local retail store. most of them have 'security safe' travel containers now.
dress down to go through security. big coats and baggy clothes are a sure fire way to get pulled aside and scanned individually, thus delaying your run through security. wear light easy to take off clothes, and ALWAYS wear slippers or sandals. makes it easy to take them off and put them in the plastic bins for scanning. make sure to put all metal stuff in your carry-on bag. everybody hates that person who has to go through the metal detector like 10 times.

Wow, you've never been on an airplane? Lol, just get there two hours early and then talk to a representative for the airline. You never get an actual ticket, just a boarding pass.
