I have only recently begun noticing this phenomenon and I'm not super-religious. Is there some kind of Bible story that would help me to understand? I was just wondering.

Right... Stairway to Heaven. Well that was where I first heard anything at all about a tool/woodshed. I thought nothing of it, but recently have noticed that in random places I have noticed other artists use that same kind of terminology... (Recently I heard a song by Johnny Cash - a sequel to "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" - I know I know!- were he says the same type of thing.) I'm sorry but the other few examples that I have heard escape me right now... But I figured that I would ask because it seemed like a recurring topic in different types of music.

The woodshed was a place where fathers used to take their disobedient sons to 'give them a whoopin' .

That's what is going to happen to Satan in the Last Day.

He's going to get a real whoopin' though. And He won't come back from it. As far as music goes, I think it depends on what is being talked about in the song.

Can you list some specific examples? The only thing I've heard that's even close to this is from Stairway to Heaven. Supposedly if you play it backwards, one section talks about a "little tool shed"; however, I've listened to it and it's not terribly convincing.
