Sonicare is the industry gold standard for ultrasonic electric toothbrushes. Because it vibrates at 23,000 times/minute, it creates little ultrasonic (sound) waves that help to break up plaque and remove stain 2-4 millimetres beyond where the bristles are touching. That is its claim to fame. It does not just rely on mechanical removal of plaque and stain like an ordinary toothbrush.
The Elite version has a smaller head and there is not plastic arm behind the head that can vibrate against your teeth. It is well worth the money and a great investment in your oral health.
I have tried several other electric toothbrushes, like the Oral B ultrasonic version and do not like them as much.

The best electric toothbrush is the Sonicare. The elite model is great because it has a timer, it beeps every 30 seconds for 2 minutes which helps to concentrate 30 seconds to every quadrant of your mouth and the sonic, vibrating action is so fast that it does a fantastic job of cleaning.

Yes, they are better because they get all the stuff from in between your teeth, a regular tooth brush could not do that. I would say you should get one that is not the highest in cost, and not the cheapest, and take a look at the brands, if you have the same toothpaste brand, and you like the toothpaste, you should buy that tooth brush.

I like the oral B/Braun.
They are not made in China, and last for a very long time.
Electric brushes are better, because they clean the far back teeth better. With a regular brush, you can't scrub the back teeth that well, because you'll slam the brush into your jaw hinge. With an electric brush, you just hold the head on your back teeth and it scrubs them for you.

I like mine. It seems to be just about as effective as the normal ones but it saves me a little time because it seems like it gets the job done really fast. Thats what I like about it. Mine is an Oral B.
