I would have a problem with it if it was fake, facetious, or condescending. THAT'S rude and makes me crazy.
If they're truly just cheerful, hey, power to them.

There are some situations in which it's really inappropriate and rude to smile. If for example someone is telling you about something terrible that happened or if you are witnessing something terrible then you really shouldn't smile. Smiling under normal circumstances is fine though. If you feel like smiling most of the time, go ahead. Just don't hurt others by smiling at the wrong time.

Smiling because you're happy is pretty good and MOST people will find it not to be rude....but if it's the kind of smile where it's just a face...then THAT could be rude.
I would say if someone's in pain or if it's a funeral of something sad then that's when it inappropriate.

Depends when you're smiling. If you smile when other people are describing a painful situation, then it could be very rude....

Smiles add face value. Can someone smile too much? I don't think so. Smiling is contagious. Others will invariably catch it. Smile, smile, smile!!!!!
