i have a painting by edwin landseer called "a piper and a pair of nutcrackers". does any one know how much this painting is worth? it's framed and engraved by H.B. Hall Jr.. im not sure what that means but i think that it cost $800 when i bought it in '91..... thanks!

If you actually own an original Edwin Landseer, instead of a reproduction. it would be worth a great deal more than the $800.00 you paid for it. In fact, if you bought one of his original paintings for $800.00 then you got yourself a major bargin.

One way to find out is to contact art dealers who are offering some of his work for sale. They'll give you a pretty good idea of it's valve. Here is a link to some listings that offer his art for sale. You can go directly to any of those links:

You were probably took.

You dont want an answer from the internet. Too many things to look at for an appraisal while online. Go to your local yellow pages, contact any local galleries, and ask them for the info on a proper appraiser within your area.

Get 2-3 if you can, just to get the best info.
