isit just b/c we arent YOUR religion?
i respect your religion, as i hope you would respect mine
in a question i asked earlier today, that stated my athiestic views, someone said:
You belong to this category :
Ti 3:2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
2Ti 3:3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
2Ti 3:4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
2Ti 3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
2Ti 3:6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,
2Ti 3:7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
not enough characters for last line
why would he post this. i am not that description in any way and i dont think his god would approve

Athiesits are godless heathens, thus the anger.
Personally, an atheist never gave me a tenth of the grief that the Christians did

Wow, where do I begin? I'm a Christian and I never once thought of atheists as bad or horrible people. It amazes me though how much Christians are bashed. I'll say one thing and I will admit that there are Christians out there that destroy our image and make us look bad and over-righteous if that makes sense. I'm sure it does.
You have the right and the free will to believe in anything you want. I RESPECT your choice, but what if there really is a God? Would you rather believe in God now, and when you die find out there isn't a God or would you rather not believe in God and die, and find out there is? The choice is yours to make and in no way am I condemning your choice nor am I trying to convert you.
I'm sorry someone pushed the Bible on you like that. That was obviously wrong to point a finger at you so harshly. I'm not apologizing for being a Christian and loving Jesus, but I will apologize for all the bad examples for Christianity we have out in the world today.
I'm no expert on the Bible, and I can't really quote you the exact verse; shocking huh? Anyway it says somewhere that before you take the sliver out of someone's eye you have to take the plank out of your own first. Which means before you find fault with someone, look at your own faults. Some Christians point fingers at atheists not realizing that they are also human and share the same faults they are accusing atheists of.
God has approved everything that's in the Bible otherwise it wouldn't be in there in the first place, however, he does not approve how people use his word today. God loves everyone, he just does not love sin. And yes, Christians sin too like everyone else. We're human.
With all that said, I thank you, from the bottom of my heart for respecting Christians because not a lot of people in other religions do. They'd rather kill us than to be around us from the reports I hear on TV.
Anyway, thanks for reading all of this and have a good day.

I certainly know a lot of non-believers who are very good people. And I certainly know a lot of Christians, as well as atheists, who belong to the above catagories. I myself have been covetous, a boaster, proud, disobedient to parents, unholy...I think you get the idea (although I have never crept into houses to capture silly women.) However, I do think that atheists have not come to knowledge of the truth (2Ti 3:7.) That is what my religion teaches and what I believe.

I haven't read the other question and can't comment on it but as for this one, I personally don't think that all Atheists are bad people. I think there's a little of everything everywhere. I have heard some pretty nasty things off of some Atheists on YA but, again, there's a little of everything. I believe that you have to have a relationship with Jesus to be able to go to heaven but I can't condemn you or anyone else. I pray that I'm right for my own sake and pray for others so that they will have hope also. I know you're Atheist but God bless.

“People of the world don't look at themselves, and so they blame one another.”
What path a person chooses is whats right for them, not necessarily right for another. For that reason, no religion is right or wrong, Atheist are not bad people at all, but perhaps better people. Without devotion to a deity, one could pay closer attention to themselves, and to know thy self is to find truth. Besides, Atheist were labeled bad because Christianity is the Majority in the world, [ after all the crusades, murders, and destruction which I really don't see as very holy at all] and they have placed that labeled on them, thus the opinion is more widely heard.

I'm a christian and I don't think Atheists are bad people. There are good humans and there are bad humans. Not all religious people or even leaders are good anyway. You just have to read the parable of the good samaritan. Jesus taught us not to look at the splinter in the other person's eye but look to at the plank in your own. I don't think the verses should have been posted as the person doesn't even know you and you can't generalise and say that all atheist are like that.

naming is power.
by defining you (and athiests in general) as per these outlandish verses, in a standard conversation/debate (1) you are at the disadvantage - you may find yourself explaining why they are not true - or if you don't, others make take it that you are not challenging this definition (this is the "when did you stop beating your wife?" line - you are on the defensive no matter what), (2) it makes the definer appear to be an authority figure, and you've spent so much time defending yourself or submitting that his/her authority appears stronger, (3) his/her allies/peer group readily accepts his/her definition, placing you at further disadvantage, and (4) it reinforces their group delusion that only their way/people who think like they do is/are correct.
Sad thing is, this from of manipulation/mind control worked for almost 2,000 years.

I think atheists can be caring, loving, and giving people. The only difference between us and them..we found the truth. The turned away from it. In the end they will have to suffer the consequences of their choice. They chose to follow the God of this world instead of the God of Glory. Good people don't go to Heaven. Saved People do.

People believe so strong in religion, that they will make fun of people who don't believe in one.
I prefer a more scientific view to things. How can they show that there is a "God" or not? They can't!
People will fight other people to see religion their way because it's the one thing that 1.) the government can't control, and 2.) no one can show them that their idea is wrong.
The war in Iraq is all based around religion, therefore I choose not to take a side, as my choice may get me bad raps from people, but I won't have to defend myself from converting, because I won't have anything to convert from!
Religion is a waste of time.
