He knows I can't drive stick, so if my car ever broke down, I would be grounded. We both have brand new cars, so driving the nicer car isn't an issue. Am I getting too upset over this?

I have tried to learn to drive stick, but I just can't do it. Some people just can't learn.

No, it means he prefers a stick...You can learn to do this, just wait till your not so angry about it and are calm...Everyone should learn to drive both...What if your with a friend and they have a stick and something happens??? And you need to drive them to the hospital...Its really easy...
The first time i ever drove a car was when my dad pulled over in rush hour traffic and said he was dying and i needed to get him to the hospital...I freaked, but i did it...Ugh i just had a thought, my dad was killed in that car years later....UGH

Good for him! Learn how to drive a stick shift! He can either teach you or just take a driving lesson or two at a local driving school.

Driving a stick shift can really get you into driving. You can feel that you have total control over your vehicle, you're more in control how it accelerates, etc. You'll love it, I can promise you! Really, be open-minded and try it.

Have fun!!!!!

YOUR EDIT: If you tried and couldn't manage it, then that was probably because someone you know tried to teach you. Anyone can learn this, really. But I think it would be better if you went to a real driving school for this one. They've seen it all and they'll now how to approach this to make sure that you'll learn. It might take you more than just one lesson, but what the heck.
My suggestion would be: do it secretly and don't tell your boyfriend. And then, when the time comes and you want to absolutely, positively shock the life out of him and make him totally speechless and gasping for words, just say very casually:"Oh, I'll drive..."

I think, just for that, this would be worth it. I mean, this would be something that would take him a long, long time to get over. Plus, you'll earn an incredible amount of relationship brownie points for that one, I promise you. This would be a story he would tell everyone over and over again.... sort of like.."you're not gonna believe what my girlfriend did!" Especially because you'll probably be the only girlfriend in his circle of buddies, that knows how to drive a stick shift. It's instant and guaranteed respect by all guys!

It's not that he does not care. Like most guys they like to drive stick shift, it's a macho thing. You gotta let him have what he wants. It's not just about you...besides if the car ever brakes down I'm pretty sure he will pick you up and take you wherever you need to go. And yes you are getting to upset on this if not just being plain selfish.

Many people who doesn't have cars travel with public transportation. So, I think that question is answered.
Your boyfriend's car is a manual because all guys who likes car likes driving it not letting it borrowed by their girlfriend.
Yes, you are too upset over this. What would happen if you were to break up with him?
Also, his insurance is already high, he don't need to have a girl driving it, they could jack the price a little or a lot more higher, since it will now have to cover two people.
GET OVER IT!!! It's his property not yours, unless you married him.

Yes you are too upset. Being stranded is terrible but you can learn from him how to drive this car and you will never be stranded for the rest of your life. This may be a very good thing to learn

No, it doesn't mean he doesn't care. Boys are so into their cars! And, its a big purchase its good he got what he wanted. Cheer up! Your car is new and proably won't break down. Next time you want to make a big purchase you can get what you want with out feeling guilty. And, you can have him teach you to drive a stick which is a good skill to have.

Yeah. He's your boyfriend not your caretaker. If your car breaks down, you have to take care of yourself not depend on someone to help you. Even if it is necessary for you drive his vehicle, driving stick is not hard. Once you've learned, you're going to hate automatic.

No, but you have a new car, just take care of it an you dont have to worry abt it breaking down, unless its a ford or Kia. Plus why drive his car, are u covered under his insurance, Im guessing your not. He might teach you, but i doubt if he wants you to burn out his clutch

Why would this be about you? It is really not very hard to learn to drive stick - have him teach you. Nothing to be upset over, so relax.

Trust me when I tell you this, he purposely got a stick shift so you wouldn't ever ask to borrow his car. Guys can sometimes be more protective of their car(s) than the one they're in a relationship with.
