Nope. On a scale of 1 to 10, while being put on braces only hurt about a 1. But the day after it's like a 10.

Well it depends. The old fashion braces did hurt alot because you had to bit down on a wooden stick for every single tooth. It does hurt.
Now a days they glue down the brackets and you only have to bit down on 4 teeth your 2 back molars on the top and two back molars on the bottom. So the real question is how sensitive are you, what technique is the orthodontist using, and so on.
Your teeth will hurt alot for a while because alot of pressure is putting on your teeth so fast. It is normal. Every 2 weeks or every month or whenever your orthodontinst appointment is, after the appointment you will feel some pain. Once again your teeth feel even more pressure and need to ge used to the pressure.
So to answer your question, yes, it does hurt to get braces . How much, minor or major is for you to figure out. And yes at first it will hurt alot and when they feel better you have to go back and yes they will hurt even more, but slowly in time they will hurt less and after me , someone that is VERY sensitive to pain and has had her braces on for 2 years or 3 years can barely notice their on letalone feel tons of pain. well, it will be worth it to come out with a great smile .
Good luck, I hope I helped you!

It hurts when you get spacers before the braces, and it only hurts when you're actually having the braces put on if your orthodontist is rough. It does hurt the next day though. Take some medicine anytime you can to prevent it from hurting more than it has to.

It may vary depending on how much corrective work is required for you. It also depends on if you are an teenager or an adult. As a teenager your bones are still growing and some discomfort will exist. As an adult, you will also experience some discomfort. It doesn't hurt getting them fitted and molded from your initial visit. The next month you will feel the soreness due to your teeth shifting and moving. It is this process which is uncomfortable. Tip: chew/bear down on the fat straws from Mc Donalds. I discovered this alleviates the soreness like a toddler that is teething. It helps the teeth & gums become less sore. Give it a try and see the difference!

I had braces, and nothing ever hurt that the orthodontist did in the office, but ometimes when he adjusts them you get soreness afterward. You can just take some Aleve or whatever for it. I am a major wimp, but I could andle braces because any pain was dull. Even if my mouth got really sore, it was never scary pain; just soreness.

Not really, it just takes awhile. The day after getting braces put on hurts since your mouth is adjusting to them. You will get sore spots and your teeth may ache.
Braces are not fun, but your teeth will look great afterwards and it will be well worth it!

Yes, because they tighten the wires s othat your teeth get straighter.
When I had my braces I made sure that on the days and for several days after me getting either new wires or tighening to have soft foods....jello, pudding, mashed potatoes, etc. Also plan on taking tylenol or some other pain reliever either shortly before or after each session of visiting the Orthodontist.
Hope this helps

Getting them on doesnt hurt at all, but your teeth will be fairly sore for up to a week after getting them on. It will be difficult to eat some foods. If the inside of your mouth gets sore, put wax on the part that hurts. It works. Just hope you dont need an expander like me.

I don't recall them hurting when they got put on or after. It takes some getting use to and they might bother you when your trying to sleep if you sleep with your face on a pillow. But it all depends on what your braces are for.
