It's your money. I started on a 6'4" thick, wide, soft rails and cheap made in china deal for $300. After I got better, I got a 6'2" BYB with boxy rails, more rocker, more narrow, thinner. It rips in perfect surf but I soon realized I needed something for other days so I got a Surf Prescriptions 6'0" a little wider and thicker with a thick swallow tail, paddles easier, catches waves easier and still feels like a high performance board. Both boards were $500. I recommend you do the same, start on a made in china board and think about custom designs later on.

I'd buy the 6' 4".

As the description said, this board is not good in small waves, so the x-tra length and thickness should give you more flotation.
