My wife is going to catch international flight at JFK (at 6.05pm) after arriving to LGA (at 3.15pm). Would 2 hours 50 minutes be enough to make this connection? She has no luggage (only carry-on backpack).

probably OK, but stressful to have to make that crosstown schlep. Better if she has her onward boarding pass already, so she doesn't have to stand in line at JFK

Most likely, she will be fine.

Instead of cabbing it all the way to JFK and risk MAJOR rush hour traffic on the Van Wyck or Grand Central, have her take a cab to the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) Jamaica station. There is a inexpensive service call the AirTrain that is like $5 that FLIES past traffic over the last 5 miles of the trip to JFK and stops at each terminal at JFK - no parking, no traffic headaches. The train is elevated above the highway. She will love you forever for this tip.
