He did not tell me at the time he proposed that he was using a recycled, well not even recycled a ring he found. I figured it out later. He did not even bother to change the setting. He claimed he did not have the money be buy a ring, but in the last four months he has bought himself a nice laptop, subwoofer/surround system, fishing poles, fishing cart and whatever else. It is not so much the ring, as it is the meaning, I feel like I mean as much to him as the probable cigarette butt it was laying next to in the gutter. What do you think?

You're exaggerating the case a bit. It's not that you are meaningless to him. But he is obviously a little bit selfish. So when he found a ring he probably thought, "score, that's one less expense to worry about."

I think you need to look past the ring issue and really examine your relationship with this guy. Is the ring bothering you, or is the ring just the most recent thing that points to a larger issue? Does he always treat you as less important? Are you generally happy with this guy, or not? Where he got the ring is really not that important. If you really love each other and will be happier together than apart for the rest of your lives, then don't let this detail ruin it. If this ring is just bringing all the preexisting problems into focus, then maybe it's time to think about other options.

I think he should have told you he found it. A ring is a ring so I wouldnt dwell too much but if he can afford the other things he could at least change the setting or ask if you want a different one.
