The total surface area of the Earth is approximately 511,185,900 square kilometres with the sum total of all the land being 150,142,300 square kilometres . Taking the second figure from the first, we get a total water coverage of 361,043,600 square kilometres, so... 361,043,600 / 511,185,900 x 100 = 70.6% of the planet being covered by water (close to 3/4 which would be 75%) What is meant by the percentage covered is just that - if the water is on top of the land (which it is) then the water is COVERING the land. If you were to measure the total amount of water and land, the only way of comparing them on a 'level playing field' would be to weigh them, and of course there would be more land than water! The 3/4 figure you quoted is a number commonly used to describe the total COVERAGE, not the total AMOUNT. Water is spread over its part of the planetary surface in a thin layer (thin compared with the size of the planet Earth). Does that help clarify?

Many answers - all correct - and an explanation.

43,560 square feet =
4,840 square yards =
4,047 square metres. (63.6 m^2)

If you look at the square yards measurement - 4,840 - the square root of that is just under 70 yards. I have been told that the measurement of a meter was based on a square, the length of one side a man could walk in one minute at a normal pace. This is from back in the days before we had lasers and measuring tapes.

I have not a clue as to what an "aker" is, other than possibly a person that is in pain, or is a "pain".
Now if perhaps you meant "acre" that is a tract of land that is 43560 square feet. That can be a square, rectangle, or any other geometrical shape.

One acre comprises 4,840 square yards or 43,560 square feet. Because of alternative definitions of a yard or a foot, the exact size of an acre also varies slightly. Related units of length are the acre's length of one furlong (220 yards) and the acre's breadth of one chain (4 rods or 66 feet).

It's called an "acher", and it is how far you can walk before your legs get tired and your feet start to hurt, or ache. That's why it is called an acher.

None of these other people have the foggiest notion of what they are saying.
