For instance, I'm afraid of mirrors in the dark. Unless I cover the mirror in my room, I can't sleep.

What are yours?

Death, that's my irrational fear.

Bees. I'm not allergic to them and the sting isn't too bad. But the buzzing sound automatically sends me into a panic. I'm the same way with the loud buzzing of horse flies. I keep the windows in my car closed and my AC on from spring to autumn. This last weekend my hubby and I were taking a drive in the country and he had his window down. A bee flew in. I hollered for him to stop and jumped out of the car until the bee was gone. Had I been driving, I would have wrecked. I was shaking and broke out in a sweat. Very irrational! But I just can't help it. I'm okay if the bees are just sitting on flowers and not buzzing around though.

Sometimes I wonder whether there's a connection to irrational fears like these and reincarnation. I don't know of any other explanation. Maybe some things don't need to be explained.

being murdered, I've had about 5 dreams over my life about it, and most my dreams were brought on by tv.
And mirrors in the dark is rational, when my dad was younger then he went up a stairway with a flashlight because he thought he heard something and the reflection from the window freaked him out, so three's a curtain on about every window at our house. LoL

spiders, clowns, open spaces, heights, enclosed spaces, stick insects, dogs (although this isn't as irrational as the others, i've had 3 dog attacks in my life and don't want another).
and now for the really good one, the one that makes people go 'huh?' st basil's cathedral. i really cannot look at a picture of that place without going cold. i have a thing about big elaborate buildings but this one is by far the worst.

I'm afraid of rocking chairs. I don't like the way they move by themselves after you get up or when there's a breeze. Actually, empty furniture in general, it's just creepy without something that's supposed to be there (ie. a person) to not be there. I know, it's stupid.

I also hate dolls. I can't look at their eyes, they look demonic.

I'm not good with heights.

It's not so much an irrational *fear* as a visceral revulsion, but cockroaches give me the willies. Especially the big Southern "palmetto bug" ones that can fly. Even dead ones are hard for me to deal with.

All fears are irrational -- they are illusive emotions based on lack of knowledge. But to be honest with you, I feel for you with that mirror thing . . . . I have to check behind my shower curtain on a daily basis to make sure no one's there. And no, it's not because I watched Psycho. It's because I'm totally paranoid someone is in my bathtub waiting to get me. Totally and consummately irrational.

Actually I don't believe I have any irrational ones. Mine are quite rational. For example going trough the bad neighborhood, alone, or spending a night outside on a street.... in case I forget my keys.... and so on....

I think mirrors at night are creepy too.

I am terrified of snakes. anything that even resembles one (like a piece of yarn on the floor) makes my skin crawl.

I'm afraid of open doors in the dark!
I have to close them or I can't fall asleep...

I have the fall asleep before hubby or I'll be so scared that I wouldn't even open my eyes!

Spiders! I can't even go near them to kill them. I have spent a good deal of time sitting on the far side of the room just watching them to make sure they don't come near me.
