At the reception, you eat and drink. You celebrate the bride and groom. Basically, you show up and take your seat. They introduce the bridal party , the parents and the bride and groom. You get to see the couple dance to their wedding song, then you get to hear speeches from the maid of honor and best man. The Parents give speeches too.
You eat, they cut the cake, you dance.
It's a celebration of the bride and groom. As a guest, all you are expected to do is 1)give support to the new couple 2)show up dressed nicely 3) bring a gift (this is my personal theory)

The reception is the party after the wedding to celebrate the newlyweds. Some people just move around and talk and others might dance if there is music. I love weddings and receptions. Oh yes and the bride usually opens gifts. Hope you have a lot of fun.

If you'll find the money for a honeymoon, you'll find the money for cake. If your peers and household are taking the situation to be there for you in your specified day, it is just traditional attention to regard them good and supply them an possibility to rejoice with you and be in combination for a even as. Cake, espresso, tea, punch and a few iPod track within the church basement or any one's residence or the Eagle's, and so forth. is minimal, primarily given that you'll find the money for a honeymoon. It's unspeakably impolite on your visitors to anticipate them to exhibit as much as the rite and no longer present them whatever. Having stated that, you would have the reception instantly after the rite and simply have your marriage ceremony visitors there. If your imaginative and prescient is small and old fashioned, there may be truthfully no motive you have got to open up the reception to plenty of different folks, and there may be no longer a legislation that says you have got to have a dance or dinner (so long as you are no longer having it in the course of a supper time).

Usually the reception is where people go eat and dance. The newly married couple is announced as Mr. and Mrs. _____ and they kick off the afternoon/night with "The First Dance". Then, they do a toast (usally by best man or something) and they eat cake. It can last forever, but if they booked a DJ, it probably won't.
