I'm wondering if the weather around LA is hot and humid in the summer months or is it more of a dry heat? I always thought LA weather was in the 70's, lol...I guess I was wrong. I just looked at weather.com, and I was surprised to see that LA and some of the cities in the San Gabriel valley actually have average temperatures in the 90's in the summer. I'm just wondering if it's a dry heat or a humid, soggy heat. I'm from the southeast, and the summers here are unbearably hot and humid...ughh. I'm probably moving to one of the cities in the San Gabriel Valley in August and am hoping that the weather is less humid and more dry. Any ideas?

It's a dry heat.

Although it does get very warm in California during the summer, it is rarely ever wet. Humidity is kept relatively low, and we don't have any of that muggy, sticky southeastern heat. Our rainy season is from November to March.

So, it won't feel hotter than it actually is.

Sunday July 15th,
The weather has been in the high 80's with high humidity. Today was a little less sticky. Although I spent most of the day in the pool. A must here in LA. I live between San Gabriel and downtown near CSULA and the local weather forcast is never right because they read the temp from USC which is closer to the ocean so it always reads cooleer than it actually is. Our hottest time is late August and early Sept. I mean HOTT!!!! in the 100's. Best time with mild temps (not too hot, not too cold would have to be late April, early May. The humid times are never predictable. If the morning is foggy it can clear and be beautiful or clear, but leave enough moisture to feel like deathsville. We also get mountain clouds that can bring the humidity. I think thats what yesterday was. Anyway if you are moving in Aug. get a small kiddie pool and do your unpacking in your swimsuit, jump in when needed.
Oh yeah and welcome to the neighborhood!

The weather in the summer hover around 80s to 90s, in the SG Valley, in Aug and Sept it can go up to 100s. It's dry heat, not really humid like it is in Asia, but very hot and dry.

I live about 4 miles inland from the ocean and we have nice cool days most of the year. Today we have a nice breeze and cool temps. Maybe around 80. We rarely have humid days. Inland get about 10-15 degrees warmer and way inland like Palm Springs get VERY hot. Today it was 111. But again it is rarely humid.
