A pixel is short form for 'picture element'. It is one bit of information in the whole picture. A megapixel (or Mpix) is one million pixels. This can be considered the 'resolution' of the camera. The higher the Mpix available, the better the resolution or sharpness of the picture because more information can be grabbed. Higher resolutions mean you can print bigger pix with better quality. The trade-off is that the more Mpix the bigger the file is so your memory will store fewer pictures.

2.0 MPix is good for a camera phone. That means that the whole camera will translate the picture you take into 2 million pixels. To get film camera quality pictures you need the higher rated cameras with 5+ Mpix.

PIXEL stands for PIcture Element.
The higher the number, the smaller the element, the higher the resolution.

If you take a 620 res jpg file and enlarge it you will see the square elements. If you get a 1900 file it will take a whole lot more zooming to see the pixels.

the higher the pixel count the bigger image you can create and the better it will look. down side? the less pictures you can take because each pixel takes a couple of bytes of memory.

a low res file may be 50kbytes a 10megapixel camera at the highest resolution will produce a file ove 1megabyte.

Megapixel is another term for camera strength. All this is saying that depending on how good the megapixel is on the camera, your pictures will come out better and more clear. If you want a good camera take good pictures with, get one with a good megapixel. That is up to you.

2.0 MP is pretty good for a camera phone, but it is what it is.

The old "best" for camera phones was 1.3 MP, so you are near the cutting edge of technology with 2.0. Go for it.
