It's made from oil. The oil leaches into the product within which it contains. Then all of us consumers consume the product as well as the oil.

Plastic does no harm. The inability of industry to figure out how to handle "waste" products made of plastic is the where the harm comes from.

Once the recycle issue is solved, the good that plastic does will outweigh all other considerations.
