What exactly is the point to wearing that weird look long john shorts. They look really weird and uncomfortable. Is it true that you wear them to restrict yourselves from masturbation and sex that is not for reproductive purposes.

They are not uncomfortable. I like the cotton-poly ones. They do good in the heat.
They are a reminder of covanants we make in the temple.
Sex is sex. They don't tell us how often or for what reason. I know people who have sex because they want too. All they say about materbation is that it is preferable not to do it, except between husband and wife.

Our temple garments are a physical reminder for the covenants we have made in the temple. They have nothing to do with sexual activity or lack thereof.
Temple garments come in a variety of materials and styles. I wear poly-cotton mesh with a rounded neck because it breathes and is rather comfortable.

They're for modesty and are a very private personal thing. They have nothing to do with sex. Mormon's have plenty o' sex!

Why do you CARE what we wear under our clothing?
Personally, I question why anyone would want to wear a thong, one of those things that give you permanent wedgies?
Our temple garments are VERY comfortable.
