I have a modified choke and a turkey choke. Can I shoot 00 Buckshot out of a turkey choke for a tighter pattern. Or do I need to buy a full choke?

Shooting 00 Buckshot out of a modified barrel shotgun is fine. However shooting 00 Buckshot out of a turkey choke is a BIG MISTAKE. Most turkey chokes are even tighter than improved cylinder chokes, in order to concentrate the pellets into tighter groups for head shots. You have to realize that 00 Buck is (9) .32 caliber pellets loaded with a coarse powdered shot buffer. This can easily destroy your turkey choke and in some cases will shoot the choke right off of the end of the barrel if it is soldered on. Your modified choke will work just fine and you will get the tightest pattern you can. Remember you are shooting .32 caliber pellets and your effective range will be limited by the distance you are shooting. Shooting 00 Buck is not like shooting rifled slugs.Good Luck

Most likely no, especially if you have a high quality choke, preferrably factory manufactured from Mossberg.

I've shot Buckshot out of a turkey choke, and it doesn't do any harm to my Remington 870.

There have been cases where people managed to shoot off the turkey choke with improper ammunition, but those were probably cheap chokes and shot with slugs.

Modified is just fine for buckshot. When using slugs it is advisable to use a more open choke, but it would also shoot out of a modified choke.

I used a "Full" turkey choke in my Mossberg 835 last year during deer season and killed a nice doe at 40+ yards using Remington 3 inch 00 buck.

I wouldn't recommend using an Ultra-Full choke though. And most people will recommend you use a Modified choke instead of a Full choke.

I find if you go too tight with your chokes that you deform the pelets and get mixed results on paper I would think that a full choke would be as tight as you would want to go

Not withstanding all the other advice, any choke smaller than modified will deform the 00 shot. 00 shot or any other shot will not travel straight when deformed.
