it would most likely be the fuel pump this is a reacquiring problem with these trucks, the fuel pump uses gas to keep it cool and when it is run low of gas the fuel pump overheats and locks up when the power is shut off to the pump assembly

Typical Hummer's their pieces of crap. Sounds like the fuel pump, or a relay. Or if you ran out of fuel, it will take some cranking on the engine to get the fuel pumped back up to the engine from the fuel tank. And if you did run out of fuel you might have burned up the fuel pump, and/or clogged up the fuel filter(s).

See if you have a reset button. In some vehicles there is a reset button for when a vehicle is run dry in order to save the fuel pump. Call HUMMER (or a GM dealer) to find out, or look in the shop manual.

Did it start or run at all after you gased up?? If so, you probably got gas with water in it. If it didn't run at all, some else just happened to occur at the same time.

Disconnect the battery, let it sit for about 20 minutes. Reconnect and try to start it. If it at least cranks it could be a bad starter...but usually starters don't just knock off.

did you add gas or diesel? If you mixed them up and its easy to do if you aren't paying attention, green pump for diesel and black pump handles for gas. then that is your problem
