this is part of the anxiety disorder hun..i had extreme ones, my heart raced ,chest pains, cojuldnt breath...i would lie there and actually think i was already dead if i couldnt feel my heart pounding....it is a horrible thing to have , i learned to face my fear and when that happened the anxiety got much better. if i could give you a hug and reassure you that it will get better if you just face the fear , i would but all i can do is tell you from someone who went through it...thing's will improve ....good luck to you

Hi, sorry to hear you are feeling so bad. Sounds like anxiety and panic attacks. The following steps should eliminate (or at least significantly reduce) your panic attacks and anxiety:

1.Breathe properly - if you control your breathing, you control panic. As soon as you notice the signs of anxiety, check your breathing: breathe in slowly through your nose pushing your tummy out (to the count of 5 or so). Breathe out slowly and for a bit longer (to the count of 7 or so) through your mouth. Do not breathe rapidly or shallowly (in the chest area). This will soon restore the balance of oxygen and you will feel a lot better.

2. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy! CBT is proven to be the most effective thing for panic attacks, OCD and anxiety etc. It takes a bit of work, but it is super effective. (After 15 years of panic attacks, mine stopped completely). You can speak to your doctor about taking a course or you can take a course for free online at: www.livinglifetothefull.com

3. Try relaxation exercise tapes (progressive muscular relaxation). They really help if you practise often enough. You can get free downloads in you put "progressive muscle relaxation" into Google (e.g. lots of universities have them as free downloads)

With each step practise makes perfect. (i.e. practise the steps every day, not just when you are feeling bad). I hope you feel better soon. Best of luck!

Ya man you are in great shape.

As far as the pains go... that is SOOooo typical. Realize this:
You are ok. You really are. You are in better shape then most people. Those pains are caused by anxiety and they are real but they aren't going to cause your death. In fact as you relax you will notice the pains will subside.

I suffered with anxiety for 6 years. It sucks. Docs kept putting me on depression meds but they all made me worse.
FINALLy my doc gave me some lorazapam for a plane trip. Turns out that it stops your brain from making the chemical that gives you anxiety with no side effects.

I felt the ever slightest bit dizzy but I was so happy. It was like someone flipped a switch in my head and I was able to be me again.

I still have mild anxiety now but I can control it and live life again.

Analyze your life. There is something in it that is conflicting and causing your anxiety. My cause was my ex and my old job. I left them both and was almost completely better within 2 to 3 months.

One last note: You should change your name to "healthy as an Ox". I wish my cholesterol was that low.

I have read some litterature about panic attacks. But they allways seem to have a more scientific approach and that is nothing I need in my struggle to survive those horrible panic attacks. This is a "hand on" and very practical book. I felt it was written to me. I am sure that you are going to feel the same.

Joe Barry writes exactly how I think. The examples are perfectly described. And the method is genius. I recommend this book and thanks Joe Barry for writing it. It changes your life

The chest symptoms are anxiety and nothing else.
Anxiety is a big mind game and if you worry about it even more the symptoms will get worse.
Try to overcome the anxiety and the rest of the symptoms will go away, if not see a dr. for some anxiety help.Meds are last resort but sometimes they do help alot!

If you're having chest pains during a panic attack, don't worry. Chest pains are very common during panic attacks, just calm down :))

It could be. What else is happening before the attack happens, how do they finally stop, what do you do to make them stop if you can? Can't really help or respond without better info.

look, i'm no doc and we here on yahoo can't be held responsible for your health matters. if you think you need to see a doc then go but honestly, it sounds like your stress is working over time. maybe you should find a good therapist who deals in such matters.
p.s.-don't trust your health to yahoo.
