About digital cameras?

I need to know how to get pictures on my computer. My digital camera is a sonydsc500! But my computer is a 98 windows, is there any way I could still put my pics on here?? If so, plz let me know how to do it? I would greatly appreciate it alot!! :)

Windows 98 does not automatically recognize a USB drive. U must install a driver for it.

Your camera may come with a cable and driver S/W. If so install it, connect the cable, open windows explorer and have fun.

If all the memory is on a memory card you could get a universal or specific card reader and do it outside the camera - still installing the drivers.

to view the files once that is done, follow this

all USB connected memory looks like a drive to the computer.

open windows explorer and find the drive and click on it. It would be drive E: if you have only one hard drive and one CD/DVD drive.

Click on that and drill down thru the folders till you find picture files. You can view them from there or drag and drop them to your hard drive so you can erase them from your camera.

You can easily open windows explorer by right clicking the start button and click on "Explore".

I found a USB cable with adapters at a local Kmart for about $15. One end is a standard USB plug, and the other end is designed to accept adapters (which are included), to allow it to connect to almost any device with a USB plug of almost any size. I have used it for my digital camera, printer, and cellphone with just 2 of the 5 or 6 adapters. Try finding it in the electronics department. Be warned, you may need to get software for your computer if your camera does not include software( or if you lost it). In my cas, I got the camera used with no cable, manual, or software. I got the cable at Kmart, the manual online from the manufacturer, and my computer (Compaq Presario N303NR laptop) running Windows XP came with software that recognised my camera. Good luck!
