Partly because the idea of rating Eternal Punishment just for being born strikes a lot of people as fishy. Personally, I think it sounds like the Protection Racket. But also partly because people don't like to think that their Evil Acts will catch up to them.

Heaven and Hell could be identical places. It's the company that really matters.

I may not go to Heaven, but I know I'm barred from Hell. Satan don't want to even think about what an opinionated do gooder could do with that much time to work and nothing better to do.

I don't believe in the existence of hell because that would mean that the statement that God is all-loving and all-forgiving would be a lie. The two concepts cannot exist simultaneously in a logical mind. Also, the "eternal torments" of hell are a crock of sh*t, because the worst, most horrible thing a human can go through is to be separated from people they love - and that happens here on earth. How humans treat other humans - that's hell.

Why do people believe there is a hell?

2007-07-17 01:05:30 · answer #4 · answered by Anonymous · 0 0

There has been no evidence to prove it's existence.
However there is:
Hell, Michigan
Hell, Lånke, Norway
Hell station, a railway station at Hell, Lånke, Norway
Hell, California, a place in Riverside County.
Hell, Grand Cayman, a place in the Cayman Islands

Some say hell is here on earth. I can not believe that a God that says he loves us can send one to hell?

Hell does exist even if some do not like to hear it....it is true. God said it so it will be done.

Even the rich suffer remember Howard Hughes the richest man in the world depressed out of his head and died alone in a hotel room. Does it matter if one has all the money in the world. Then die and go to hell also?

God gave commands and warnings just like man give rules and laws....if ignored you suffer the punishment no matter what. We are without excuse!

Jesus said why do you act as if what is happening to you is about you? It is common for a man to suffer in this world, nothing should surprise him. One must fight the good fight of faith. What is Faith? Hebrews 11.

I have heard people say if you ignore it it will go away...somethings never go away and that is a fact...two things for sure God! and hell! Heaven is for certain and all of us will not go there.

I was born into a baptist/non denominational family and was taught to believe that there is heaven and hell.. I believe in both. I am taking on a whole new belief tho that we are already in hell on earth but we are born to basically find God in the hell that we live in. There is nashing of teeth here on Earth (me for instance have had a root canal and I hurt after having it, and need yet another one possibly two more I have an injury on my leg due to bad circulation that is just not going away) The way out? Is God! We just have to believe in Him and we will be saved for He is the way, the truth, and the life! So I don't know if it is true if we live in hell right now and God just pulls himself out of the world after the rapture. I have talked to a guy that was very much into the Word of God and he goes to church and he honestly believes the same way. I don't know if hell is an actual lake of fire. I mean Satan already exists on earth just imagine after the rapture if God pulls Himself out of earth where would this place be? It would be a dark lonely place where evil people rule the earth nobody has any belief in anything people always breaking into your home and they have no care about anything and nobody dies like living in Arizona or Nevada with no water cuz they say there is no water in hell so it would be a hot dry place I imagine. As far as why do people not believe in it? Well they are just crazy the Bible says it so I am trained to believe that if the Bible said it it must be so Science can't prove anything that the bible said so the question is are you going to believe in what people/science says or what God said. I don't think you want to risk it.. The afterlife well I would just rather be walking on streets of gold and chillin with God and the other believers instead of wishing for even a drop of water.

There are many people that say God is all forgiving and all forsaking and everyone will go to heaven.. But if you DONT BELIEVE IN HIM YOU WON'T BE SAVED!!! So that my friends is why there is a hell for nonbelievers. If you don't repent you won't be saved. Jesus took a murderer to heaven with him that was on the cross because he repented in his last hour of life. He repented. But if you are going to kill or do other bad things and not repent for it then you are screwed.

I think they don't want to believe in Hell. It is interesting. Jesus talked about hell as much as he did heaven. He talks about the separation from God and the gnashing of teeth. He also talks about a lake of fire. The wonderful thing is Jesus offered an alternative to hell - eternal life in heaven with a new body and no tears, no sadness, no sickness, no death. He died on the cross to pay our price for sin so that we would never have to go to hell but we must repent and ask Christ to be our savior. If we don't we face the judgement (every sin we ever sinned will be held against us) and will live eternally away from God in a place that Jesus called Hell.

I KNOW there is Hell. No one goes to the same Hell because Hell is complete isolation but all Hell is exactly the same.

I believe others don't really believe in the eternal. They don't believe in eternal Heaven or in eternal Hell. They cannot or will not concede that this life is but the blink of an eye compared to eternity.

All they see is here but they don't live in the here and now long enough to properly appreciate how short life in this world really is.

I'm afraid for these people. Life is short but essential to our ultimate, eternal destination.

Yours in Christ Jesus, Grace

It depends on what kind of hell you are talking about, Warren.

Maybe your question ought to be: why would people from so many different religions, cultures, and personal perspectives be expected to believe in a hell or even the same kind of hell?

Here is my take one that. It is a simple clear cut answer. Way back when someone created the concepts of heaven and hell to keep children in line. You do good you go to heaven and have a dreamy life. You do bad you go to hell and suffer and are tortured for eternity. Make sense to anyone. People today do it all the time. You do bad bad things happen, you do good and you are rewarded, same concept different times in history.
