JESUS was the KING OF THE JEWS . .. they tried, convicted and sentenced JESUS to death for what they called crimes . .. it is traditionally believed that JESUS was in hell by the conviction of the Jews . .. This is further supported in revelation by his feet being brandished bronze as if by fire . ..
Revelation 1:15 And his feet like unto fine brass, as in a burning furnace. And his voice as the sound of many waters.
It is horrible to think of JESUS in hell, but that was the sentence of the Jews upon JESUS . .. they acussed GOD of blasphemy . . .
But we also have by the Epistle of Saint Peter that he released those imprisoned in Limbo . .. we see that the Jewish Saints rose and appeared to many . ..
I personally have held the notion that JESUS bound up the devil and his demons in this time . .. because before this we see JESUS casting out demons and many others . .. but in the book of Acts we don't see any demons being cast out . .. and today demons are quite rare . ..
but after the thousand years (a watch in the night) they must be loosed for a little season . . . during the tribulation period . ..
as i have said this is an observed speculation and i don't say it is a fact . .. As to JESUS binding up the devil and the demons . ..
However we do know the devil has on occassions gotten out of this, as he has tormented and tempted Saints . .. and few would dispute that Hitler was an anti-CHRIST beast in a demonic regime . ..
LOVE your neighbor as yourself
Amen

Dead. For one entire day and part of two other days. The Jews measured any part of a day as an entire day.
Died preparation day (Friday) Lay in the tomb over Sabbath (Saturday) and arose from the tomb on the morning of the 1st day (Sunday).
Dead, asleep in the grave. His body was in the tomb, his spirit (breath of life) went back to God who gave it.
Its the creation of Adam in reverse.
Remember Jesus said "Father, into thy hand I commend my spirit".

Apparently He went down to the compartment (Abraham's bosom) of Sheol (Hades, Hell, place of the dead), and preached the good news to those who were waiting for God's salvation to appear.
Luke 16:22 The poor man died and was carried by the angels to Abraham's side. The rich man also died and was buried, 23 and in Hades, being in torment, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus at his side. 24 And he called out, 'Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus to dip the end of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am in anguish in this flame.' 25 But Abraham said, 'Child, remember that you in your lifetime received your good things, and Lazarus in like manner bad things; but now he is comforted here, and you are in anguish. 26 And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, in order that those who would pass from here to you may not be able, and none may cross from there to us.'
Matthew 27:50 Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost. 51 And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent; 52 And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, 53 And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.
1 Peter 3:18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: 19 By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;

Actually, he was in Sheol, or Hades, or Hell, in English. Meaning, not a place of torment like everyone thinks, but in the grave, which is what those words really mean. He was 'dead' to the world for those three days. I'm not certain the Bible actually tells us where in Hades, but he mastered death and the grave, and gave us hope for our own resurrection.

He didnt leave the tomb till easter when He rose from the dead. While He was dead He was preaching to the dead in hell proclaiming the good news of freedom from death and sin as the scriptures proclaim.

Jesus didn't escape from his tomb - he stayed in it for 3 days before he arose to Heaven, I think.
