Treadmills are good because they help raise your heart rate. It's also good because it's a weight bearing exercise like walking or running. It's an aerobic exercise and as far as I know aerobic exercise helps you lose weight.
About going to a gym, they can be expensive. Here's a suggestion. Is there a Y near you. They have exercise programs and are not expensive as far as I know.
Good luck to you.

I've tried many diets and couldn't make anything work. Since having my first child, I've been carrying around an extra 30 pounds. This diet just made sense and showed me that everything I was doing before was wrong and a waste of my time.
The plan was so refreshing and so simple to follow. I did everything plan said and lost 23 pounds in the first three weeks. I'm now starting the diet again to lose 7 more pounds. This plan has changed my life.
Get started today!

Treadmill sucks compare to the park; it doesn't give you fresh air and you don't get road resistance
If you don't like the attention then stop running in the park, you can also get a partner to run with you
Gym's a waste of $
Don't worry you can start looking better after you lose your weights

Aw, you have my sympathy.
Yes, the treadmill is an excellent way to lose weight, but it is not the best way to lose weight. However, it's one of my favorites.
If you have a stair case, you could always run up and down on it. Running up to a higher elevation tones your legs, and it also takes much more effort.
Oh, I also suggest yoga, or perhaps even Winsor Pilates. They're great.

A threadmill is awsome...I use one almost everyday and it's very affective and causes less stress on your knees. You can incline the machine as you want and pace yourself at the right spead to get you target heart rate. It is a good exercise tool...Peace

It's definitely better than nothing, running is something that helps you burn some calories, and thread mill will help you even through it might be little bit less effective. So go ahead and get it, cause it will help.

I prefer the elliptical machine because it forces you to move your arms as well, thereby increasing your heart rate better. All in all, I prefer swimming over any cardio machine.

treadmill gives you a great cardio - its one of the best cardio machines because you use your own body weight and burn more calories than some other machines.
