It causes sensitivity to sunlight. You can break out in rashes and burn easily. Also, (my experience) dizziness and tingling can occur. If you are taking this medication you REALLY want to avoid sun exposure.

Many medications cause light sensitivity as a side-effect.

One common way this occurs is through causing pupils of the eyes to dilate, allowing more light in than is necessary and causing discomfort or in extreme cases loss of vision.

In the case of the drug in question, it simply makes the skin more sensitive to light and may result in sun burn or rash if precautions are not taken.

Because it makes you sensitive to the sun, you are more apt to burn and get a more severe burn. It is a good idea to follow the instructions until you finish the meds. It's not forever, is it?
