yesterday we went on a family outing
we went to a fun fair , the science centre....
all paid for by my mum , because we don't get out much as a family

because of the distance to mum , she usually pays for a taxi for me
but because she had paid for the day out , I got the train home
something my kids arent used to
on the way back I asked my little one ( she is 6 ) what the best part of the day was
she replied
" the train "

fun fair and food £ 40
science centre £ 30
train home £ 3
lol
why can't we be more like kids and appreciate the little things ?
remember when the cardboard boxes were more fun than the presents inside ?

this made me smile yesterday
just thought I would share it
do yuo have any stories about your own children or ones from your childhood along the same lines ?

My daugher (16mos) and I were chasing each other round the room the other day with little plastic farm animals. I would not have believed she would find it so funny when the cow I was holding "ran" up her trouser leg to her ankle. Cheap and priceless all in one go.

My kids are the same way. They love taking a bus or a train-perhaps because it isn't the norm or because they like being around other people. The packaging seems more interesting than the item we bought and they would take a walk in the park over a movie any day.

Children in the third world have long learned to improvise. An empty washed tin can tied to a bit of string and dragged clanking down the street makes an amusing toy. An orange juice (500 ml) box washed and crushed makes an ideal and safe toy for playing 'monkey in the middle' otherwise called 'dandy shandy' which basically is a game played by three or more people. Two people stand on either end and try to hit someone in between and the person or people try to dodge the 'ball' or in this case the 'juice box' to avoid being 'out'. This is how I grew up-dodging juice boxes and making toys out of garbage. lol

Children, family, and marriage are a blessing from God.
Even though at times, it might not seem that way, because spouses sometimes deviate from what their intended job is.

But nonetheless these are all wonderful blessings. And also a great deal of responsibility. Teaching them the right ways to live, and the right way to Jesus is not always an easy thing to do in this day in age. But its still a complete blessing, and children hold that innocent vitality, that we all wish we still had. We will have it again one day, and that makes it all too important to make sure your loved ones, and others make it to heaven as well.

Much love to you all through Christ Jesus,

Dusty

Not everyone thinks children are "awesome". I personally can't stand them. They're noisy, messy and smelly, expensive and generally irritating. However people who have children can be more irritating than the children themselves, constantly yapping on about what their kids did like it's the most amazing thing in the world (which incidental in most cases it isn't.). No everyone wants to hear stories about other peoples offspring, I'm sure if their your kids you think it's important news, but just bare in mind not everyone shares your enthusiasm.

Firegirl - Thanks for your childish and sarcastic outburst, I however don't need you to play matchmaker, I have a partner already. And I direct your attention to the question in bold "ARENT CHILDREN AWESOME?". I was merely offering my opinion on the matter, some people here agree, with the question, I do not and I was merely offering a different opinion. Perhaps in future you could stick to actually answering the question rather than making obnoxious personal attacks aimed at other members, who's opinions differ from yours.

What a sweet story! Kids see things that way we adults should see them.

I was driving in the car with my 9 year old. A song came on with the lyrics, "I knew I loved you before I met you."

I said to her, "You know that's true. Before I ever laid eyes on you, I loved you so much."

She said, "How could you?"

I said, "When God first made you, you were teeny-tiny inside of me, so small you could hardly be seen. But you were my baby, a gift from God, and I already loved you."

She paused a moment, looked at me and said with great enthusiasm, "God Rocks!"

ohhhhh......i know what you mean....and how it feel....you can be sure that is one true to the heart comment made as no one can teach a child that age what to answer they are the most truthful people at that age.

And i agree with you children are a blessing in disguise. There are things they can do at the right moment that you often woundered how do???? when ???? where did they get that from.

I will share a story.....i know a family whose father is very strict and believe in punishment as to discipline his kids especially the boys....he likes to threatened them by using his belt not did he ever use it he will not lay a finger on them as he loves them...........but he does not do this publically....one day his little daughter five years old was misbehaving at a gathering and she will not listen to her mother warning her not to run around....she went even more uncontrollable after the warning....so the father step in putting a stern face and putting his finger up with a stern voice trying to stop the daughter.....the daughter look up at her daddy with wide eyes open and for everyone to hear....why daddy where is your belt? Did you lose it?

I could not help but smile at what she is saying......it is safe to say the daddy never threatenned his children with his belt anymore....he is still very strict but....that incident i cannot erase it from my mind

Yes! I love children. I have taught school for 26 years. I have tons of stories.

The coolest thing a child ever said to me was, "You're like a little girl trapped in a woman's body."

Another called me when she was in the hospital having her baby. I had taught her 10 years ago, when she was 9.

They are loving and honest. They don't hold grudges. They don't act like a lot of people here. They accept one another.
They forgive easily. They can be mad one minute and be best friends again the next. They are eager to learn. They are grateful for anything you do for them.

(I teach the impoverished ones, slow learners, crack babies, etc.)

We can learn a lot from children.

School starts back July 30!

Children are a true gift from God. I have two littles ones. They are five and two and no matter how hard the struggle or how bad the day just looking at them and laughing with them takes away all the worry.

i live where there was an abundance of child soldiers.
because they have not been taught the rules of society by their parents [who have been massacred], there is no boundaries to their cruelty
and because of their imagination i have seen such atrocities that you cannot believe

it is amazing what can happen when a child has not been taught the rules & boundaries of civilisation

yes, they are "awesome"
