In working in a camera store i have had people ask me that and it was their battery source. Your camera probaly takes 2 aa batteries and when you put them in they dont work because the battieries are not powerful enough for you camera. Try looking at the bottom of your door where the batteries go on the inside and see of there is a sticker that says crv-3. These are double a batteries but lithium and not rechargeable I gaurantee it will work but these battieries dont run cheap. They should be between 10-15 dollars. Remember crv-3 batteries take your regular aa batteries back you'll be happy then! There is nothing wrong with your camera.

I had the exact same problem last week with my one year old Canon. I bought new batteries three times and still was saying low batteries and shutting off. I figured out what was wrong, though. You have to use ni-mh rechargeable batteries with the highest mah rating you can find. The 2300 mah work good. Ordinary batteries don't have enough capacity to run the camera. I always used the rechargables and had no problem until I was on vacation and couldn't recharge them so I bought regular batteries and they didn't work. I wish I knew that before, hopefully this will help you out!!

If you have inserted re-chargeable batteries that have a full charge and still get a low battery message, the problem may be internal. Most digital cameras have a built in small re-chargeable battery that holds the date and other information. If this battery malfunctions it could drain the main battery. Your best bet is to send in for service.

stop buying alkaline batteries and get a couple sets of high capacity rechargable NiMH batteries. They can supply more current due to lower internal resistance. Or you could get the extra expensive lithium based batteries, but rechargables are way more cost effective.

If yo haven"t tried them, try Energizer Lithium batteries. I had the same problem and went to these and haven't had any problems yet. If they don't work, take the camera back to where you got it and explain to them your problem and they may take it back or at least give you a trade-in on a better one.

Have you tried to use new batteries?
i reccomend you using rechargeable alkaline batteries

If you have already tried this you should get technical support for your camera.

I had the same problem. I ended up taking back and wouldn't leave until they replaced the piece of junk.
