Technically its illegal to buy prescription medications from outside of the country as a consumer.

But, it is not a law that is enforced. Many, many seniors and others do it daily.

No one will get charged with it UNLESS they are buying huge quantities and then reselling them.

International commerce of "prescription items" is illegal. The FDA manages what type of drugs are over the counter (OTC) and which are prescription. The medicines that you get from another country are regulated differently than the medications that are regulated within the United States. For example, Mercury may no longer be used as an additive to prescription medication in the USA. However, it is treated as a valid medication in several central american states. (Mostly to fight STD's, but that's anothe topic.)

I will state that Canada is a safer country to get medications from than any of the others that ship to the USA. Canada does work of the USA and EU medical regulation systems. However, it is still illegal.

Both US and Canadian law prohibit pharmacies from selling prescription drugs to ANYONE unless they have a valid prescription. Canadian law does not prohibit sales to US residents, but US law prohibits ANYONE from importing prescription drugs from Canada. This law is often not enforced against individuals that travel to Canada an purchase drugs for which they have a valid prescription.

At the moment illegal but, it's only a matter of time before a doctor can write a prescription for any drug you can prove you need.

Right now it is illegal to do that. Personally I am waiting for the day when our senators and representatives get us our own universal health care program. I do believe Michael Moore's movie "Sicko" and I do hope we have all gotten a little more intelligent in regard to our own health care here in America.
