We are moving for several reasons. Anyone out there that has been through this (from US to Europe) and can give us a heads up as to the best places to live, easiest ways to obtain the proper paper work, permits, etc., has a fair amount of English speaking people, etc? I am willing to obtain citizenship but obviously we would need to get where we want to end up first. Doing lots of research and I am aware it will take time and money but would love to hear any suggestion as well about how to make it take a little less time and a little less money to get there. Open to all suggestions! Badly needing a new start here.

We do not know a secondary language but are looking at different classes. Thought we would start with French but we are willing to tackle whatever is necessary. Incidentally, we are in Oregon, so the rainy weather in England doesn't phase us! We have a joke here- if you see someone with an umbrella, there are either tourists or wimps! Lol!

god finally i thought i was the only american in here. well in live in edinbrugh scotland i can tell you very honestly it is the greatest place on earth. comeing from a guy who came from new york queens, people hear are cool, down to earth and are not racist( i know its an odd suggestion but its one thing that sticks out). your son will get along great with anybody as long he is truley himself. your son will have plenty of oppurtunities to do a lot of stuff with his friends. crime level is low. its like pleasent ville. as for jobs and money. the government and local counicls are extremely helpfull in supplying you with plenty of job oppurtunities.
however AtT FIRSt you may have difficulties adjusting ypur self here but within six months everything will run smoothly and fall in their place.

i myslef faced extremely hard time getting used of scotland because its a huge difference with new york. but as i go t used of the place it seems why didnt i come here earlier.

hope that helps

You do not say if you speak any other languages .. because living anywhere in Europe other than UK will involve speaking the language of that country to some extent.
Do your research first - look at a map of Europe and weather patterns, employment trends etc for countries you are interested in. .. you need to make an informed decision.
My first thought is that you should come to UK and start from there - at least we speak nearly the same language!! BE sure to bring a raincoat and umbrella if you do. Good luck

Britain is kind of on the expensive side however you might feel more comfortable being that English is one of the major languages. I would put into consideration which European government seems to be the most stable, which has more job opportunities in your field and which has the least % of crime.

Your spelling and grammar is of a high standard. Therefore I guess that you are well educated and skilled at your chosen profession or line of work.

Such English skills would probably be best served in Great Britain... as every other European country uses their own national language as their first language.

Also you would enjoy it here. Doesn't have to be London. Come and live in South Manchester/Cheshire. Not far from a major city (Manchester), lovely countryside, low-crime, and lots of job opportunities.

Hi! you should try Italy. nice weather, good food, beautiful landscapes and sea, beautiful cities, full of art and culture and so on... the bad things are: we don't speak english, nothing works (ever) and everything's a mess.
