I would liken the services God receives from Angels AND everyday people to the services parents receive from their children. When my kids "help" me with the car or my wife in the kitchen, is it for THEM or for US? You see, by asking for their help, we are helping them to grow into the man and woman they need to someday be. God doesn't REALLY need our help! But He enlists it for us, so we can grow as Christians.

God created the universe and everything in it. He really doesn't "need" anything. Many times angels are messengers. They also protect us as guardian angels. We are not to worship angels. Actually, Satan was an angel who rebelled against God.

Worship... Revelations shows the angels worshipping God...

They are also used by God to send messages to us, to protect us... (see the account of the angels visiting Abram to inform Him Sarah will have a baby, when the angels visit him to let Him know Lot is in trouble...)

Apparently, God pleases himself, by speaking what He will and seeing it happen. Angels are a part of God's strange plan. They are to help and serve man, as guardians, messengers, healers, and leaders. This pleases (or, perhaps, amuses) God immensely, for some reason.

Exo 23:20 Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared.
Exo 23:21 Beware of him, and obey his voice, provoke him not; for he will not pardon your transgressions: for my name is in him.
Exo 23:22 But if thou shalt indeed obey his voice, and do all that I speak; then I will be an enemy unto thine enemies, and an adversary unto thine adversaries.
Exo 23:23 For mine Angel shall go before thee, and bring thee in unto the Amorites, and the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Canaanites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites: and I will cut them off.

I feel that I am in the service of God as a christian. I do not fully understand from Gods perspective why he let us have free will. But I do understand the importance of spreading his word and the happiness that comes from following his word and the blessings that we get from the peace in our hearts.

Some angels do have certain tasks delegated to them by God. What are the tasks? No one knows for sure. We do have a lot of ideas floating around about it.

---...'Did you ever notice how in the Bible, whenever God needed to punish someone, or make an example, or whenever God needed a killing,...
... he sent an angel?

Did you ever wonder what a creature like that must be like? A whole existence spent praising your God,...
... but always with one wing dipped in blood.

Would you ever really want to see an angel?"...---

Isn't that the same thing we're supposed to do once we've died and gone to Heaven? What kind of service can a Being who's all knowing and all powerful really need, anyway?

God see them as family, they want to serve God, it's their choice. So God sends them to serve compassion, help, and teach us. Just like us with our free will, some of us choose to do God's will and others not, at lease at this time.
