I'm really curious to know what your definition of 'intelligent' is. I do not think that stupidity, gullibility, willful ignorance and self-delusion adds up to 'intelligence'.

There have been about 40 studies conducted over the past 80 years that reveal an atatistically significant inverse correlation between intelligence and religiosity. In other words, the MORE intelligent a person is, the LESS likely that person is to believe in gods, and such. Conversely, the LESS intelligent a person is, the MORE likely that person is to be religious.

"Why do intelligent people today continue to believe 100% fairytales that came from man's imagination"

You mean like:
1. Life emerging from a soup
2. The moon forming from the earth
3. Universe being billions of years old
4. Macro evolution
5. The Oort cloud
6. The geologic column
7. An asteroid killed all the dinosaurs and allowed everything else to live

All ideas from man's imagination, without a shred of evidence, unless one of you knows someone that has seen and can verify these things.

why do you assume they are all intelligent? the answer is that they have been brainwashed since they were old enough to go to church, old habits are hard to shake, plus people tend to be sheep like, so they tend to huddle together for protection, nobody one wants to be the first to stand up and say "hey, jesus has no clothes!", they might be shunned

each person's beliefs are personal and have value to themselves irregardless of anther's approval or disapproval.
. Luckily it is not your responsibility (or mine, or anyone else's) to form those beliefs of others or to control them. So you too can believe in whatever fairy tales suit you, whether they be of modern non-religious origin or of some other ancient religion source.
BTW pack mentality is in effect now as atheism becomes more popular and accepted as the modern and cool thing.

I don't see what people have against religion. Religion gives people hope, and faith. Religion sets people on the right track. People don't do bad things because of God's teachings... Religion makes this world a better place.

I think people just want something to believe in.
Church is also for social gatherings.
I believe religion is used to control people. It seems to work.
