Obviously if I'm asking I'm a beginner, but I need to know the best method for setting up a tattoo gun to be a shader instead of a liner.

first a liner is not a shader you need two machines (oh yeah its a tattoo machine not a gun )but put a nickle (5 cent) (for your liner start with a dime then go from there) between the spring and the contact then a just to the machine work good from there long strokes are good for shader but short fast strokes are for line work try to find a good artist and i mean i good artist to give you a apprenticeship then you can learn the right way instead of messing up your self or your Friends i got my apprenticeship form sleepy hollow Potsdam new york under Kevin Robinson he's one of the best and award winning

Ya, if you want to know it the right way, go see a guy that does it for a living, you'll get to see it and then reproduce that. They'll demonstrate for you on their own machines. The ones we've talked to are all verry cool about it, and he didn't mind at all.

Back out the screw that contacts the contact point, when you push down the armature bar, you should have a gap about as wide as a nickel, as compared to a dime with a liner. And then adjust by sound til it hums right. Its also good for greywash.
